したがって、贖いは聖なるメシヤによって、またメシヤを通じてもたらされる。それは、メシヤが恵みと真理に満ちておられるからである。見よ、メシヤは律法の目的を達するため、打ち砕かれた心と悔いる霊を持つすべての人のために、罪に対する犠牲として御自身をささげられる。このような人々のためにしか、律法の目的は達せられないのである。
第２ニーフアイ２：６－７
Wherefore, redemption cometh in and through the Holy Messiah; for he is full of grace and truth. Behold, he offereth himself a sacrifice for sin, to answer the ends of the law, unto all those who have a broken heart and a contrite spirit; and unto none else can the ends of the law be answered.
2 Nephi 2:6-7
This instruction was given by Lehi to his young son, Jacob, just prior to Lehi’s death. This teaching is the basis for all the gospel principles.
これはリーハイが亡くなる前に息子ヤコブに残した教えで、福音の全ての教えの基本原則です。
Everything we do in the Church is based upon the great atoning sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Without that atonement, there would be no hope in this life or in the life to come.
私たちが教会で行うすべてのことは救い主イエス・キリストの偉大な贖いの犠牲に基づいています。贖いが無ければこの世や来る世に希望を持つことができません。
We have all sinned. Because of sin, we are cut off from the presence of the Father. Because of sin, we are all unworthy. Because of sin, we cannot return to our Heavenly Father.
私たちは誰もが罪を犯します。罪のために私たちは天父のみ前から断ち切られています。罪のために私たちの誰もがふさわしくないのです。罪のために天父の元には戻れません。
It is only because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ that we have hope. Through the Atonement, we can repent. Through the Atonement, we can become clean. Through the Atonement, we can return to live with our Heavenly Father.
イエス・キリストの贖いによってのみ私たちは希望を持つことが出来ます。贖いを通して私たちは悔い改めることが出来、贖いを通して清くなれます。贖いを通して天父の元に戻り共に暮らすことが出来ます。
The Savior did all this because of his great love for us. He was not forced to suffer the great physical agony that was part of the Atonement. He was not required to die on the cross. He was not forced to “suffer and bleed at every pore” for our benefit.
救い主は私たちに大きな愛を持っておられるのでこれら全ての事をされました。救い主は贖いの一部である酷い肉体的な苦痛を強いられて受けられたわけではありません。十字架上で死ぬことを強要されたわけではありませんし、私たちのために「あらゆる毛穴から血を流す」ことを強要されたわけでもありません。
He did all this because of his great love and kindness. No one else could accomplish the Atonement. No one else was without sin. No one else had lived a perfect life.
救い主は大きな愛と優しさを持っておられたからこそ、これら全ての事を行われたのです。他の誰も贖いを成し遂げることは出来ません。誰も罪の無い者などいません。他の誰一人完全な人生を歩んだ者もいません。
The Savior willingly offered himself as a sacrifice to fulfill the demands of justice. Through that great sacrifice, the way was opened for us to repent. The way was opened for us to escape from the chains of Satan. The way was opened for us to become clean again.
救い主は正義の要求を満たすために自ら進んでご自身を捧げられたのです。その偉大な犠牲を通して私たちに悔い改めの道が開かれたのです。サタンの鎖から逃れる道が開かれました。私たちが再び清くなる道が開かれたのです。
The only thing that the Savior asks of us in return is that we love him and keep his commandments. He asks us to be humble. He asks us to be obedient. He asks us to follow him.
救い主が唯一求められる見返りは私たちが救い主の戒めを守り、愛を示すことです。彼は私たちに謙遜であることを求められます。従順で救い主に従うことを求められます。
The blessings of the Atonement of Jesus Christ are free to everyone who wants to receive them. Every single person can receive those blessings, if they follow the teachings of the Savior. No one is excluded. The rules are the same for every son and daughter of God on the earth.
イエス・キリストの贖いの祝福はそれを受けたいと望む者には誰でも無償で与えられます。救い主の教えに従うならば誰でもこれらの祝福を受けれるのです。例外などありません。地上にいるすべての神の息子、娘にとってこの法則は同じなのです。
As Lehi teaches us, we are to have a “broken heart and a contrite spirit”. This means that we are to be humble and teachable. This means that we are to keep all the commandments. This means that we are to serve and to help the other sons and daughters of Heavenly Father as we all struggle through this mortal experience.
リーハイが教えたように私たちは「打ち砕かれた心と悔いる霊」を持たねばなりません。それは謙遜で素直に教えを受け入れるということです。全ての戒めを守り、天父の息子や娘を助け、奉仕することです。私たちも含め、皆この死すべき世では苦しみを経験するからです。
I testify that it is only through the great Atonement of Jesus Christ that we have any hope. It is the greatest blessing that we can ever receive. It makes it possible for us to repent. It makes it possible for us to become clean. It makes it possible for us to return to our Heavenly Father again.
偉大なイエス・キリストの贖いの通してのみ私たちはどのようことにも希望を持つことが出来るのです。それは私たちが受けれる最高の祝福です。私たちが悔い改めることを可能にし、清くなれるのです。それは私たちが再び天父の元に戻ることを可能にしてくれます。
As we go through this new week, let’s remember what the Savior has done for us. Let’s remember that without his atoning sacrifice, all would be lost. Let’s remember, and as we remember, let’s do our best to keep his commandments.
今週、救い主が私たちのために何をされたのか忘れないように過ごしましょう。救い主の贖いの犠牲が無ければ全てが失われることを忘れないように。救い主の戒めを守るよう最善を尽くすことを忘れないようにしましょう。
