しかし見よ、あなたは自分の罪を神から隠すことはできない。また、悔い改めなければ、あなたの罪は終わりの日にあなたを責める証となるであろう。アルマ３９：８
But behold, ye cannot hide your crimes from God; and except ye repent they will stand as a testimony against you at the last day. Alma 39:8
This scripture is from the discussion Alma had with his third son, Corianton. Corianton had been called to serve as a missionary with his father and his older brothers among the Zoramites. Corianton was not a faithful missionary and committed serious sin during the time he was serving.
この聖句はアルマと三男コリアントンの会話を記録したものです。コリアントンは父と兄たちと共にゾーラム人の中で宣教師として働くよう召されました。コリアントンは忠実な宣教師ではなく奉仕中に大きな罪を犯しました。
Alma reviewed Corianton’s transgressions and reminded him that he cannot hide his sins from God. Alma urged him to humble himself and to repent of his sins.
アルマはコリアントンの罪を見て神から罪を隠す事は出来ないと諭しました。へりくだり罪を悔い改めるよう勧めました。
We, like Corianton, all have committed various sins. While we have probably not committed as serious a sin as Corianton, we all have sins to repent of.
私たちもコリアントンのように色々な罪を犯しています。恐らくコリアントンほど重大な罪は犯していないでしょうが私たちは誰もが悔い改めるべき罪を犯しています。
The Lord has said that he cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance. That means that there are no “small” sins. There are no sins that the Lord will simply overlook. Big or small, we need to repent of all our sins.
主は罪を見逃すことはどんな考慮を持っても出来ないと言われてます。それは「小さな罪」など無いと言うことです。どんな罪でも主は見逃すことはなさいません。大小に関わらず私たちは全ての罪を悔い改めねばならないのです。
The glorious message of the gospel is that we can repent. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, has paid for all our sins by his great Atoning sacrifice. It is only through that great Atonement that we can become free from our sins.
福音の輝かしいメッセージは私たちは誰でも悔い改めることが出来ると言うことです。救い主イエス・キリストは偉大な贖いの犠牲により私たち全員の罪の代価を支払ってくださったのです。その偉大な贖いによってのみ私たちは罪から解放されるのです。
Heavenly Father loves each of us very much. He wants us to be clean. He wants us to repent. He wants us to be worthy to return and live with him again someday.
天父は私たち一人一人をとても愛しておられます。私たちに清くなり、悔い改めて欲しいと望んでおられます。私たちに相応しくなって天父のもとに戻り、いつの日か共に暮らせるよう望んでおられます。
In order to learn the things that we came here to earth to learn, Father gave us our free agency. He allows us to make our own choices, even when those choices will result in sin and unhappiness. He has given us the gospel and has explained to us the Plan of Happiness.
この地上に来て必要なことを学ぶために天父は私たちに自由意思を与えてくださいました。たとえ罪や不幸をもたらす結果であっても私たちが自由に選択することを許されています。天父は私たちに福音を与えてくださり幸福の計画を説明してくださいました。
Some of us, though, sometimes think we can be happy without keeping the commandments. We allow Satan to tempt us. We listen to Satan’s temptations and tricks. We think we are smarter than those who humbly follow the Savior.
しかし私たちの中には戒めを守らなくても幸せになれると考える人もいます。サタンに誘惑することを許し、サタンの誘惑や企みに耳を傾けることをします。謙遜に救い主に従う者より自分は賢いと考えています。
The Lord is very happy when we make good choices and keep his commandments. For those of us who always have to learn things the hard way, he gives us the opportunity to use our free agency and to make poor decisions. We have to learn from the things that we suffer that “wickedness never was happiness”.
主は私たちがよい選択をし戒めを守ることをとても喜ばれます。いつも痛い思いをしながら学んでいる者には主は自由意思を使い良くない決断をする機会も与えておられます。私たちは「罪悪は決して幸福を生まない」ことを苦しむことから学ばねばなりません。
Heavenly Father stands with open arms, ready to welcome us back on to the straight and narrow path. He has provided a way for us to repent. He has made it possible for us to become clean again.
天父は両手を広げ私たちが真っすぐで狭い道に戻ってくるのを待っておられます。私たちに悔い改める道を用意してくだり、私たちが再び清くなれるようにしてくださいました。
We have to do our part, though. We have to humbly repent of our sins. We have to want to change. We have to make the decision to always keep his commandments.
しかし私たちは自分の成すべきことをしなければなりません。謙虚になり罪を悔い改め、変わらねばなりません。常に戒めを守る決意をしなければなりません。
The good news is that Corianton, even though he had committed serious sins, did repent. He did change his life. He did go on to become a great missionary.
嬉しいのは重大な罪を犯したコリアントンでさえも悔い改めたということです。彼は生き方を変え立派な宣教師となったのです。
Just like Corianton, we too can repent of our sins. Just like Corianton, we too can make changes in our own lives. And, just like Coriaton, we can go on to live righteous lives.
コリアントンのように私たちも罪を悔い改めれるのです。コリアントンのように私たちも生活を変えることが出来るのです。コリアントンのように私たちも正しい生活を続けていけるのです。
As we go through this next week, let us take time to repent of our sins. Let us make any changes that we need in our lives so we can be happy. Let’s strive to always keep the commandments.
今週を過ごすとき、頑張って罪を悔い改める時間を作りましょう。幸せになるために必要なことは何でも変えてみましょう。そして戒めを守り続けれるよう努力しましょう。
