さらにあなたがたは、罪を悔い改めてその罪を捨て、神の御前にへりくだらなければならないことを信じなさい。そして、神があなたがたを赦してくださるように真心から求めなさい。これらのことをすべて信じるならば、必ずそれを実行しなさい。モーサヤ書４：１０
And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you; and now, if you believe all these things see that ye do them. Mosiah 4:10
This scripture was given by king Benjamin during his great address to his people at the end of his reign. It is just as important today as it was then.
この聖句はベニヤミン王が統治の終わりに民へ残した大切な説教で、その当時と同じように今日の私たちにとっても大切なものです。
The key message in this scripture is the need for us to believe in Jesus Christ. We need to believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior and our Redeemer. We need to believe that there are commandments.
この聖句で重要なメッセージはイエス・キリストを信じることが私たちには必要であるということです。イエス・キリストが私たちの救い主であり贖い主であること、また戒めが存在することを信じる必要があります。
As we develop faith in Jesus Christ, we will want to follow him and to keep his commandments.
イエス・キリストへの信仰を育てるとき、私たちはキリストに従い、戒めを守りたいと思うことでしょう。
The world does not want to believe that there are any commandments. The world does not want to believe that there are consequences to our choices. The world does not want to believe that there are limits to proper behavior.
戒めなどというものが世の中にあることを人は信じたくありません。自分の選択、決定の結果があり、ふさわしい振る舞いというものがあることも信じたくないのです。
This is the same thing that the evil Korihor taught. He tried to teach the people that whatever they did was okay. He tried to teach them that there is only this life, so do whatever will make you happy now.
これは邪悪なコリホルが教えたことと同じです。彼は人々に何をしても大丈夫だと教えていました。彼は人生は一度しかないので今楽しいことをしたらよいと教えていました。
This is a trap of Satan.
これはサタンの罠です。
There are commandments. There are limits. There are consequences.
戒めはあります。制限や結果も存在します。
Because the Lord wants us to be happy, to be truly happy, to be happy for eternity, he has given us commandments. By obeying those commandments, we can become happy.
主は私たちに幸せや真の幸福、永遠の幸福を得て欲しいので私たちに戒めを与えられました。これらの戒めに従うとき私たちは幸福になれるのです。
We all make mistakes. We all make bad choices. We all sin.
私たちは皆、間違いを犯します。間違った選択もしますし罪も犯します。
Because of the great Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can repent. We can become clean again. We can become happy. We are taught in this scripture how to do that.
偉大なイエス・キリストの贖罪により私たちは悔い改めが出来ます。再び清く、幸せになれるのです。この聖句ではその方法を教えています。
First, we must repent. We must feel sorrow for our disobedience. We must want to improve and to change.
まず、私たちは悔い改めねばなりません。不従順さを悲しく感じなければなりません。改善する事と変わる事を求めねばなりません。
We must be humble. It takes humility to repent. It takes humility to recognize that we have sinned. It takes humility to ask for forgiveness.
私たちは謙遜でなければなりません。悔い改めには謙虚さが必要です。罪を犯した事を認めるには謙虚さが要ります。赦しを求めるには謙虚さが要ります。
We must ask God to forgive us. We must ask sincerely, with a real desire to become clean again.
私たちは神に赦しを求めねばなりません。誠実に再び清くなることを心から望まねばなりません。
King Benjamin teaches us a very important principle in the final words of this scripture. He teaches us that, if we truly believe, we must take action.
ベニヤミン王はこの聖句の最後で大切な原則を私たちに教えています。もし本当にそれを信じるなら行動が伴わねばならないと。
If we believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior, we must take action and repent. If we believe that we can be forgiven, we must forsake our sins. If we believe that we can become clean again, we must ask with a sincere heart. If we believe all these things, king Benjamin says, “see that you do them”.
もしイエス・キリストが救い主だと信じるなら私たちは行動し悔い改めねばなりません。もし赦されると信じるなら自分の罪を捨て去らねばなりません。もし再び清くなれると信じるなら真心から求めねばなりません。もしこれらすべての事を信じるなら、「必ずそれを実行しなさい」とベニヤミン王も言っています。
I know that obeying the commandments and repenting of our sins is the only way that we can become happy. I know that the Atonement of Jesus Christ makes it possible for us to repent. I know that the Lord will forgive us if we follow king Benjamin instructions.
戒めに従い自分の罪を悔い改めることは唯一私たちが幸せになれる道だと知っています。イエス・キリストの贖いが私たちの悔い改めを可能にしてくれることを知っています。ベニヤミン王の勧めに従うなら主は私たちを赦してくださることを知っています。
