わたしは福音を恥としない。それは、ユダヤ人をはじめ、ギリシヤ人にも、すべて信じる者に、救いを得させる神の力である。ローマ人への手紙１：１６

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16

This scripture was written by the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Romans. It contains a very important message for us today.

この聖句は使徒パウロがローマ人への手紙の中で書いたものです。今日の私たちにもとても大切なメッセージが含まれています。

Most of us are often hesitant to talk with people about the gospel. Maybe we think they will be offended, or maybe we think they will be angry. We let doubts enter into our minds.

私たちの殆どは福音について人と話すのをためらいがちです。もしかして気分を害されるとか腹を立てられるとか心配します。私たちはそうした疑いを心に抱いてしまいます。

But Paul reminds us that the gospel is the most important message in the world. It is a message that can bring eternal salvation to all people. No one is excluded. No one is left out. No one is denied the opportunity to hear the gospel.

しかしパウロは福音が世界中でもっとも大切なメッセージであることを忘れないよう教えています。福音は全ての人に誰一人除かれることなく永遠の救いをもたらすのです。誰一人福音を聞くことを拒絶されることもありません。

We each have a testimony of the gospel. We believe that it is true. We believe that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. We believe that Joseph Smith saw God and Jesus Christ. We believe that, through the Prophet Joseph Smith, the truths of the gospel have been restored to the earth.

私たちはそれぞれ福音の証を持っています。それが真実だと信じています。モルモン書が神のみ言葉だと信じています。ジョセフ・スミスが神とイエス・キリストにまみえたことを信じています。預言者ジョセフ・スミスを通して福音の真理がこの地上に回復されたことを信じています。

We know these things because we have been taught about the gospel. We know these things because we have prayed with faith to know if they are true. We know these things because the Holy Ghost has testified to each of us that these things are true.

私たちは福音について教わったのでこれらの事を知っているのです。それが真実かどうか信仰を持って祈ったのでそのことを知っています。聖霊が私たち一人一人に真実だと証したのでそのことを知っています。

Where would we be without the gospel of Jesus Christ? What would our lives be like if we did not have the gospel? Where would we find peace in times of trouble without the gospel?

イエス・キリストの福音が無ければ私たちは今どこにいることでしょう？福音が無ければ私たちの人生はどのようなものだったでしょう？福音が無ければ苦難のt時どこで平安を見つけたことでしょう？

There are so many of Heavenly Father’s children who are desperately seeking those same things. They want to be happy. They want to have the peace. They want to have answers to their questions.

多くの天父の子供たちがこれと同じことを必死に探し求めています。彼らh幸せになりたい平安が欲しいと望んでいます。彼らが抱えている疑問に回答が欲しいと考えています。

But they don’t know where to find that happiness, that peace, those answers.

しかし彼らはその幸せ、平安、そして探している答えをどこで見つけたらよいかわかりません。

If we don’t share what we know with them, how will they ever know the happiness that we know?

もし私たちが知っていることを分かち合わなければ、彼らはいったいどうして私たちが知っている幸福を知ることが出来るでしょう。

If we don’t share what we know with them, how will they ever find peace?

もし私たちが知っていることを分かち合わなければ、彼らはいったいどうして平安を見つけることが出来るでしょう。

If we don’t share what we know with them, how will they find the answers to their questions?

もし私たちが知っていることを分かち合わなければ、彼らはいったいどうして抱えている問題の答えを見つけることが出来るでしょう。

Satan does not want us to share the gospel with anyone. He does not want anyone to be happy. He does not want anyone to have peace. He does not want anyone to have knowledge.

サタンは私たちに誰とも福音を分かち合ってほしくありません。彼は誰にも幸せになって欲しくないのです。彼は誰にも平安や知識を持って欲しくありません。

One of his tools is to put doubt and fear into our minds. If he can make us afraid to share the gospel, he wins. If he can make us be too shy to talk with anyone about the gospel, he wins. If he can make us ashamed of the gospel of Christ, he wins.

サタンが使う道具に疑いや恐れを心に植え込むことがあります。彼が福音を分かち合うことに恐れを感じさせれば彼の勝利です。彼が福音を分かち合うことを恥ずかしいと思わせれば彼の勝利です。彼がキリストの福音を恥かしいと感じさせれば彼の勝利です。

How can we block out Satan’s attempts to make us feel doubt and fear? How can we share our beliefs with others in a simple and friendly manner? How can we help others to feel the happiness and joy that we feel?

サタンが疑いや恐れを持たせようとする試みをどのように防げるでしょうか？私たちの信条を分かりやすく友好的に誰かと分かち合うにはどうしたらよいでしょうか？私たちが感じている幸福や喜びを他の誰かも感じるようどんなお手伝いができるでしょうか？

President Russel M. Nelson was once asked how he is able to go through difficult experiences in this life. His simple answer was, “I can do it because I know the Book of Mormon is true”.

ラッセル M ネルソン大管長は人生で彼がどのように難しい経験を乗り越えれるのか聞かれたことがあります。彼の分かりやすい回答は「モルモン書が真実だと知っているのでそれが出来るのです」でした。

A simple response like this can lead to an opportunity to talk a little about our beliefs and to share our testimony of the truths of the gospel. We do not have to have all the answers to every question. We do not memorize hundreds of scriptures. We do not have to know about every event in Church history.

このような分かりやすい回答は私たちの信条について少し話し、福音が真実である証を分かち合う機会に導いてくれます。あらゆる質問の回答を全て持っている必要はありません。聖句を何百も覚える必要も、教会歴史のあらゆる出来事を知っている必要もありません。

We simply need to be willing to share our own feelings and beliefs. We can share why we feel so happy in an unhappy world. We can share why we feel families are so important. We can share why we love the Book of Mormon.

ただ自分の気持ちや信条を分かち合いたいという気持ちが必要なのです。悲惨な世の中でも何故こんなに幸せな気持ちでいられるのか分かち合えます。何故私たちは家族がそんなに大切だと感じているのか分かち合えます。モルモン書をどうして愛しているのか分かち合えます。

Let’s make an effort this week to not be “ashamed of the gospel of Christ”. Let’s look for opportunities to share our ideas and feelings with others. Let’s look for ways to help others find happiness.

「キリストの福音を恥」としないよう努力して今週を過ごしましょう。誰かに自分の考え方や気持ちを分かち合う機会を探してみましょう。他の誰かに幸福を見つけるお手伝いする方法を探してみましょう。
