And when thy people transgress, any of them, they may speedily repent and return to thee, and find favor in thy sight, and be restored to the blessings which thou hast ordained to be poured out upon those who shall reverence thee in thy house. Doctrine & Covenants 109:21
This scripture is also from the dedicatory prayer of the Kirtland Temple. Given to the Prophet Joseph Smith by revelation, Section 109 of the Doctrine & Covenants contains many important messages for us.

In this scripture, we are reminded of the necessity of repentance in our lives.

We all make mistakes. We all make poor choices. We all make decisions we later regret.
私たちは誰でも間違いを犯します。間違った選択をし、後で後悔するような決断もしてしまいます。
What a wonderful blessing repentance is!
悔い改めは何と素晴らしい祝福なのでしょう！
In spite of our mistakes, in spite of our poor choices, in spite of our bad decisions, we can be cleansed from our sins. We can become clean again. We can become worthy to receive blessings again.
過ちや間違った判断、良くない決断をしているにもかかわらず私たちは罪から清められるのです。再び清くなれるのです。再び祝福を受けるにふさわしくなれるのです。
One of the key words in the scripture is “speedily”. When we make a mistake, we are told to “speedily repent”.
聖句には「速やかに」というキーワードがあります。私たちが間違いを犯すとき「速やかに悔い改める」ように言われてます。
We must not try to hide our sins. It is impossible to hide our sins, no matter what we do. Every action is known to the Lord. Nothing is hidden.
私たちは罪を隠そうとしてはいけません。何をしようとも私たちの罪を隠すことなどできないのです。すべての行いは主に知られています。何一つ隠せないのです。
Do you think that, when you repent, the Lord would say, “What? I didn’t know you did that!”? Of course not. The Lord knows what we have done, both good and bad. He does not want to condemn us. He loves us and wants us to be clean.
悔い改めるとき主が「ええっ、あなたがそんなことをしたなんて私は知りませんよ」とでも言われると思っていますか？もちろん違います。主は良いことも悪いことも含め私たちがしたことをご存知です。しかし主は私たちを避難したいとは思っておられません。主は私たちを愛し、清くなってほしいと望んでおられます。
But, the law of justice requires that we do our part to become clean again. Because of the great Atonement of Jesus Christ, it is possible for us to repent. The Lord wants us to “speedily repent”, but even if it takes us a long time to admit to our sins, he is always there, waiting to bless us and to help us.
しかし正義の法則は再び清くなるために私たち自身のすべきことを行うよう要求しています。イエス・キリストの偉大な贖いによって私たちは悔い改めが可能なのです。主は私たちに「速やかに悔い改める」よう望んでおられます。自分の罪を認めるのに長い時間がかかったとしても、主はそばにおられ、私たちを祝福し助けるよう待っておられます。
We have been taught in General Conference that no one has sinned so much that they cannot repent and become clean again. For some things, the repentance process may be short and simple. For more serious transgressions, the repentance process may be long and painful.
罪を多く犯したため悔い改めて清くなることが出来ない人など誰一人いないことを私たちは総大会で教わりました。悔い改めの過程が短く簡単なこともあるでしょう。また重大な罪では悔い改めの過程は長く痛みを伴うかもしれません。
The key principle is that we can repent, no matter what our sins.
重要な原則はどんな罪であっても私たちは悔い改めれるということです。
In the Book of Mormon, it says that Alma and the sons of Mosiah were “the very vilest of sinners” (Mosiah 28:4). And yet, after they completed their own repentance processes and were cleansed from their sins, they became some of the greatest missionaries in the history of the Church.
モルモン書の中でアルマとモーサヤの息子たちは「最も罪深い者」だったと記されています。（モーサヤ書28:4）しかし彼らが悔い改めの過程を終え、自身の罪から清められた後、教会歴史上もっとも偉大な宣教師となったのです。
As we sincerely repent, we will find favor in the sight of the Lord. More importantly, we will “be restored to the blessings” that have been promised to those who obey the commandments of the Lord.
心から悔い改めるとき私たちは主の目にかなう者となります。そして更に重要なことは、主の戒めに忠実なものに約束された「数々の祝福を回復される」ということです。
As we go through this week, let’s take time to examine our own lives. Let’s repent of the mistakes, the poor choices, the bad decisions that we have made. Let’s sincerely repent and be restored to all those blessings that have been promised. As we repent, our hearts will be lighter. Our faith in Jesus Christ will increase. Our lives will be blessed.
今週を過ごすとき、自分自身の生き方を見直すようにしてみましょう。間違いや良くない選択、私たちの悪い選択を悔い改めましょう。心から悔い改め、約束されたすべての祝福を回復するようにしましょう。そうすれば私たちの心は軽くなるでしょう。私たちのイエス・キリストへの信仰は増し、生活が祝福されることでしょう。
