Brethren, shall we not go forward is so great a cause? Go forward and not backward. Courage, brethren; and on, on to victory! Let your hearts rejoice, and be exceedingly glad. Let the earth break forth into singing. Doctrine & Covenants 128:22
As we begin a new year, this is a good time to stop and reflect on the great blessings we have received. In this scripture, the Prophet Joseph Smith reminds us of the great work we are engaged in.
新年を迎える今、私たちが受けてきた大いなる祝福について感謝の気持ちを持って考えてみるよい機会ではないでしょうか。この聖句では預言者ジョセフ・スミスが私たちに携わっている大いなる業を忘れないようにと教えています。
In Section 128, the Prophet Joseph Smith teaches us about the blessings of temple work and of the wonderful plan of salvation. He teaches us that the blessings of the Lord are not limited just to the living, but are available to all who have ever lived on the earth.
第128章で、預言者ジョセフ・スミスは神殿の働きと素晴らしい救いの計画の祝福について教えています。彼は主の祝福は生きているものに限らず、かつてこの地上に住んでいた全ての者にもあたえられると教えています。

The restoration of the gospel and of priesthood keys gives us the opportunity to not only receive eternal blessings for ourselves, but to extend those same blessings to all of our ancestors.
福音と神権の鍵の回復は私たちだけではなく私たちの先祖の誰にでも永遠の祝福を受ける機会を与えてくれるのです。
To live in a time when these blessings are available is wonderful. It should be a time for us to “let our hearts rejoice” and to “be exceedingly glad”.
こうした祝福が用意された時代に住めることは素晴らしいことです。まさにこの時代は私たちが「心を喜び楽しませ」、「大いに喜ぶ」時なのです。
Prophets and righteous men and women through the ages have looked forward to our day. Our day is a time when all blessings that have been promised to the faithful are available. It is unlike any other time in the history of the world.
預言者や正しい男も女も遥か昔からこの時を待ち望んでいました。この時は忠実なものに約束されたすべての祝福が用意された時なのです。世界の歴史上かつてなかった時なのです。
The gospel is being taken to almost every nation on the earth. The Book of Mormon is available in more than 100 languages. There are more than 150 temples across the earth. The Church is strong and is growing.
その福音はほぼ地上のどの民にも延べ伝えられています。モルモン書は百か国語以上に翻訳されています。地上には150以上の神殿があります。教会は力強く成長しています。
What a wonderful time to be alive!
何と素晴らしい時代に生きていることでしょう。
Yes, there are challenges. Yes, there are difficulties. Yes, there are trials.
しかし困難はあります。苦難も試練もあります。
Those things never go away. What is different is that the light of the gospel now shines over everyone on the earth. Every righteous seeker of truth can, by their faithfulness, receive all the blessings and ordinances necessary for eternal happiness.
そうしたものはなくなることはありません。ただ違うことは福音の照らす光は地上のすべての人の上に注がれるということです。真理を求める善良な人はすべてその忠実さによりすべての祝福と永遠の幸福に必要な儀式を受けれるのです。
“Shall we not go forward in so great a cause?”
「私たちはこのような偉大な大儀において前進しようではありませんか。」
“Courage, brethren, and on to victory!”
「兄弟たちよ、勇気を出してください。勝利に向かって進んでください。」
We have the message of truth to share with the world. We have the great plan of happiness. We have the ordinances of the priesthood. We have prophets and apostles. We are greatly blessed.
私たちには分かち合う真理のメッセージがあります。私たちには幸福の偉大な計画や神権の儀式が、預言者と使徒があります。私たちは大いに祝福されています。
As we begin this new year, let’s resolve to “go forward and not backward”. Let’s resolve to let our “hearts rejoice”. Let’s resolve to be “exceedingly glad”. Let’s “go forward in so great a cause”.
新年が始まるにあたり「退かずに前に進む」と決意しましょう。「心を喜び楽しませる」と決意しましょう。「大いに喜ぶ」と決意しましょう。「偉大な大儀において前進し」ましょう。
