This scripture, given through the Prophet Joseph Smith, teaches us about the importance of bearing testimony. We are taught several things in this scripture.
まず、私たちが述べる証は天において記録されると教えています。
First, we are taught that the testimonies that we bear are recorded in Heaven.
次に、天使たちは証を述べる人々を喜ぶとも教えています。
Second, we are taught that the angels rejoice over people who bear testimony.
そして三つ目、おそらく一番重要なのは、証を述べることで私たちの罪が許されるということです。
Third, and perhaps most important of all, we are taught that by bearing our testimony our sins are forgiven us.
何とすばらしい祝福でしょうか。
What great blessings!
これらの祝福は、すべての人のために用意されています。特別な資格や立場はありません。この聖句には、証を述べるのにビショップや扶助教会の会長、専任宣教師でなければならないとは書かれていません。
These great blessings are available to all of us. There are no special requirements. This scripture does not say that we have to be the Bishop to bear our testimony. It does not say that we must be the Relief Society president to bear our testimony. It does not say that we need to be a full-time missionary to bear our testimony.
私自身、天使にあったことも、偉大な示現を見たことも、天が開けるのを見たこともありません。けれども、人の証を聞いたときや自分の証を述べるたときに、確かに聖霊の力を感じた経験があります。
I have never seen an angel. I have never had a great revelation. I have never seen the heavens open. But I have felt the power of the Holy Ghost when I have listened to testimonies and when I have borne my own testimony.
私たちには月に一度、断食証会で自分の証を述べる機会があります。その機会を大切にしましょう。自分の証が誰にどんな影響を与えるかはわかりません。ちょうどその日、何かに苦しんでいる誰かが教会に来ていて、私たちの証に心を動かされることがあるかもしれません。
We have an opportunity once each month to bear our testimonies in Fast and Testimony meeting. We should take advantage of that opportunity. We do not know who will be influenced by our testimony. There may be someone in Church that day who is struggling and who will be touched by our testimony.
またミニスタリングやクラスで教えるときも、福音について証をする機会があります。毎月、私たちには誰かに証を伝える機会が与えられています。その証は、相手の人生に祝福をもたらし、同時に自分自身の証をも強めてくれます。
We also have opportunities to bear our testimony of the gospel to those to whom we home teach or visit teach, or in the classes that we teach. We have an opportunity each month to bear our testimony to them. If we do this, we will bless their lives. We will also bless our own lives and will strengthen our own testimony.
私たちは、まだ教会の会員でない人々にも証を述べる機会があります。私たちの多くは、イエスキリストの福音に対する証を、かつて出会った宣教師や教会員の証によって強められてきました。今、私たち自身が証を持つという大きな祝福を受けていのですから、真理を求めるいる人々にその証を分かち合う責任があります。
We also have opportunities to bear our testimony to those who are not members of the Church yet. For many of us, it was the testimony of the missionaries or of other members that helped us gain our own testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Now that we have the great blessing of having our own testimony, we have a duty to share that testimony with others who are seeking the truth.
証とは、自分の信仰や信条について誠実に語る言葉です。誠実な証は、どんな立派なスピーチよりも人の心を動かす力があります。証を述べるとき、聖霊が聞く人の心に働きかけて、私たちが語ることが真実であることを証してくださいます。たとえ短くても、誠実な証を通して人は聖霊の力を感じ、心に変化をもたらすことができるのです。
A testimony is just the simple words we speak, explaining our faith and belief. A very simple testimony is much more powerful than any great speech. As we bear testimony, the Holy Ghost testifies to those who hear us that what we are saying is true. Through our simple testimony, that person can feel the power of the Holy Ghost and their heart can be changed.
私たちが心を込めて証を述べるとき、神様の子どもたちが真理を見出す手助けをする「神の手足」として用いられているのだと感じます。大切なことを語るときには、聖霊が助けてくださいます。そして私たちの簡単な証であっても、「天において記録され」、天使たちがともに喜び、私たちの罪が赦されることを知っています。
I know that as we bear our simple testimony, we will be instruments in the hand of God in helping his children find the truth. I know that we will be helped by the Holy Ghost to say the things that will be important. I know that our own simple testimonies will be “recorded in heaven”, that the angels will rejoice over us, and that our sins will be forgiven us.
新しい週が始まります。今週、あなたの証を誰かに伝える機会を探してみましょう。それが断食証会であっても、家庭の夕べ、ミニスタリング、クラスでの学びの場であっても、あるいはまた福音を知らない誰かに向けてであっても構いません。あなたの証が誰かの心に光をもたらすかもしれません。
This week, look for opportunities to bear your testimony. It doesn’t matter whether it is in Fast and Testimony meeting, in a Family Home Evening, with a member that you home teach or visit teach, with your class that you teach, or with someone who has not yet heard the gospel. Find a way this week to bear testimony to someone.
