And these things doth the Spirit manifest unto me; therefore I write unto you all.  And for this cause I write unto you, that ye may know that ye must stand before the judgement seat of Christ, yea, every soul who belongs to the whole human family of Adam; and ye must stand to be judged of your works, whether they be good or evil.  Mormon 3:20

We now come in our study of the Book of Mormon to the writings of the prophet Mormon.  He had a life full of hardship and trials.  At the young age of just sixteen, he was appointed as the leader of the armies of the Nephites.  He held that position until the great and final battle at Cumorah, when he was 74 years old.

モルモンは、その大戦争の前に、ニーファイの版からこの記録（モルモン書として知られているもの）を作成し、自分に与えられたすべての記録をクモラの丘に隠したと述べています。これがニーファイ人最後の戦いになることを知っていたため、そして、主が記録を守るように命じられたのでそのようにしたのです。

Mormon tells us that, prior to that great battle, that he made this record (which we know as the Book of Mormon) out of the plates of Nephi.  He says he hid up in the hill Cumorah all the records that had been given to him.  This was all done because he knew that this would be the last battle of the Nephites, and that the Lord had commanded him to protect the records.

これが後世の人々のために書き残すことができる最後の機会となることを知っていた彼は、すべての人が悔い改めて主のもとに立ち帰るようにと、幾度も嘆願しました。彼はこの聖句の中で、私たち全員がいつかはキリストの裁きの座の前に立たなければならないと警告しています。私たちは誰でも、この世にいる間の自分の行いについて裁かれなければなりません。

Knowing that this would be the last time he would be able to write anything for his posterity, he makes a number of pleas that everyone should repent and return to the Lord.  He warns us in this scripture that we must all, at some time, stand before the judgement seat of Christ.  We must all be judged of our works while in this life.  

私たちは皆、これが真実であることを知っています。私たちは誰でも、人生が終わると霊界に戻ることを知っています。私たちは誰でも、いつか、人生での善悪両方の行いについて裁かれることを知っています。

We all know this is true.  We all know that, when this life is over, we will return to the Spirit World.  We all know that, at some point, we will be judged for the things we have done in this life, both good and bad.

これらすべてを知ることは、私たちの日常生活にどのような影響を与えるでしょうか。私たちは生活の中でどのように変わる必要があるでしょうか。なぜモルモンや他の預言者たちは「人生は人が神に会う準備をする時である」と何度も警告してきたのでしょうか。

Seeing that we know all these things, how should that affect our daily life?  What changes do we each need to make in our own lives?  Why have we been warned so many times, by Mormon and other prophets, that “this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God”?

天父は、霊の子供たち一人一人を愛しておられます。天父の最大の望みは、私たち全員が戒めを守り、永遠の喜びを受けるのにふさわしくなることです。天父は私たちを教えるために預言者を遣わし、学ぶための聖文を与えてくださいました。天父が与えてくださる最大の祝福を私たちが受けられるように、あらゆる手を尽くしてくださいます。

Heavenly Father loves each of his spirit children.  His greatest hope is that we will all keep the commandments and be worthy of eternal joy.  He sends us prophets to teach us.  He gives us scriptures to study.  He does everything possible to help us achieve the greatest blessings he has to offer.

しかし、自由意志の律法により、私たちには自分の進む道を選択する責任があります。誰も私たちに悪い選択を強制することはできません。誰も私たちに良い選択を強制することはできません。選択するのはすべて私たち次第です。

But, because of the law of free agency, we have the responsibility to choose the path we want to follow.  No one can force us to make bad choices.  No one can force us to make good choices.  It is all up to us to choose.

新しい週が始まります。モルモンのこの警告について少し時間を取って考えてみましょう。自分の生活を吟味し、裁きの日に備える準備ができているかどうかチェックしてみましょう。生活の中で救い主に近づくために必要な変化を起こす勇気を持ちましょう。聖約の道にとどまるという決意を固めましょう。裁きの日に主の前に立つ準備をしましょう。

As we go through this week, let’s spend some time thinking about this warning from Mormon.  Let’s examine our own lives and see if we are prepared for that judgement day.  Let’s have the courage to make any necessary changes in our life that will help us draw closer to our Savior.  Let’s be firm in our commitment to stay on the covenant path.  Let’s all be prepared to stand before the Lord on that judgement day.
