。。。わたしたちがこの大いなる業を成し遂げるために、神の御手に使われる者とされたことは、わたしたちに与えられた祝福である。アルマ２６：３

… And this is the blessing which hath been bestowed upon us, that we have been made instruments in the hands of God to bring about this great work.  Alma 26:3

アンモンと彼の兄弟たちは、レーマン人の間で宣教師として約14年間奉仕した後、ゼラヘムラに戻りました。彼らは宣教師としての働きで大きな成功を収め、何千人ものレーマン人が福音を受け入れました。

After serving as missionaries among the Lamanites for about 14 years, Ammon and his brethren returned to Zarahemla.  They had been blessed with great success in their missionary work and thousands of the Lamanites had accepted the gospel.

しかし、最初からそうだったわけではありません。例えば、アロンと彼と一緒にいた宣教師の何人かは捕らえられ、投獄されました。他の者は飢えや渇き、疲労に苦しみました。しかし、彼らは苦しみに耐え、イエス・キリストの弟子として良い模範となるように言われました。

It did not start out that way for them, however.  For example, Aaron and some of the missionaries with him had been taken and put into prison.  Others had suffered hunger, and thirst, and fatigue.  They had been told to be patient in suffering, though, and to be good examples of disciples of Jesus Christ.  

主がレーマン人の心を和らげることができたのは、彼らの苦しみと勤勉さと努力によってでした。宣教師たちが成功を収めるまでにどれほどの時間がかかったかは分かりませんが、彼らは14年間宣教師として働き続けました。

It was through their suffering, and diligence, and hard work, that the Lord was able to soften the hearts of the Lamanites.  We don’t know how long it took the missionaries to begin to have success, but they labored for 14 years in their missionary efforts.

宣教師たちは伝道の終わりに、悔い改めたレーマン人数千人をゼラヘムラの地に連れ帰ることができました。悔い改めてイエス・キリストの福音を受け入れたレーマン人は「二度と道を踏み外しませんでした」（アルマ13：6）。宣教師たちは彼らの宣教活動を喜びをもって振り返ることができました。

At the end of their missions, they were able to bring thousands of the repentant Lamanites back to the land of Zarahemla with them.  Those Lamanites who had repented and accepted the gospel of Jesus Christ “never did fall away” (Alma 13:6).  The missionaries could look back on their missionary labors with joy.

私たちも「神の御手に使われる者」となって、この偉大な業を前進させる手助けをすることができます。私たちは、私たちを殺そうとする者の中で14年間宣教師として奉仕する必要はありません。私たちの周りには、神の御手に使われる者となる機会が至る所にあります。

We too can become “instruments in the hand of God” to help move this great work forward.  We do not have to serve as missionaries for 14 years among people who want to kill us.  There are opportunities all around us to be instruments in the hand of God.

神の御手に使われる者となるには、何か偉大なことをする必要はありません。むしろ、ほとんどの場合、小さくて簡単なことをすることによって、神の御手に使われる者となることができます。

Being an instrument in the hand of God does not require us to do some great feat.  Rather, in most cases, we can become an instrument in the hand of God by doing small and simple things.  

神殿の祝福を必要としている先祖の名前を見つけるとき、私たちは神の御手に使われる者となります。その名前を神殿に持って行き、亡くなった先祖に代わって救いの儀式を受けるとき、私たちは神の御手に使われる者となります。

When we find names of our ancestors who need their Temple blessings, we are being instruments in the hand of God.  When we take those names to the Temple and receive the ordinances of salvation on behalf of our deceased ancestors, we are being instruments in the hand of God.

病気の人、悲しんでいる人、孤独で忘れられていると感じている人を訪問するとき、私たちは神の御手に使われる者となっているのです。困っている人にミニスタリングするとき、私たちは神の御手に使われる者となっているのです。

When we visit someone who is sick, or sad, or feeling lonely and forgotten, we are being instruments in the hand of God.  When we minister to someone in need, we are being instruments in the hand of God.

教会で知らない人に親しく挨拶をするとき、私たちは神の御手に使われる者となっているのです。教会で一人で座っている人と一緒に座るとき、私たちは神の御手に使われる者となっているのです。

When we give a friendly greeting to someone at Church that we don’t know, we are being instruments in the hand of God.  When we sit with someone who is sitting alone at Church, we are being instruments in the hand of God.

召しを受けて奉仕するとき、私たちは神の御手に使われる者となります。困難な社会的状況においても、正義を主張するとき、私たちは神の御手に使われる者となります。

When we serve in our callings, we are being instruments in the hand of God.  When we stand for the right, even in difficult social situations, we are being instruments in the hand of God.

私たちは、自分の行いや言葉のすべてにおいてイエス・キリストの弟子の良い模範となることによって、毎日神の御手に使われる者となることができます。

We can be instruments in the hand of God every day, by being a good example of a disciple of Jesus Christ in all that we do and say.  

新しい週が始まります。神の御手に使われる者となる機会をさらに探してみましょう。重荷に苦しんでいるかもしれない周りの人たちに奉仕できる方法を考えましょう。行動を起こし、実際に他の人を助けるために何かをしましょう。神の御手に使われる者となるという素晴らしい祝福を受けるにふさわしい者になりましょう。

As we go through this next week, let’s look for more opportunities to be instruments in the hand of God.  Let’s think about ways that we can serve those around us who might be struggling with burdens.  Let’s take action and actually do something to help others.  Let’s all be worthy to receive the great blessing of being an instrument in the hand of God.
