神を信じなさい。神がましますことと、神が天と地の万物を創造されたことを信じなさい。神はすべての知恵を備え、 また天と地の両方でー切の権威を持っておられることを信じなさい。さらに、人は主が理解される事柄すべては理解しないということを信じなさい。さらにあなたがたは、罪を悔い改めてその罪を捨て、神の御前にへりくだらなければならないことを信じなさい。そして、神があなたがたを赦してくださるように真心から求めなさい。これらのことをすべて信じるならば、必ずそれを実行しなさい。モーサヤ書４：９－１０
Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend. And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you; and now, if you believe all these things see that ye do them. Mosiah 4:9-10

As we continue with the address of king Benjamin, he teaches us more important doctrines. His teachings are very simple and easy to understand.
この聖句では、彼は福音の計画全てをわずか数文で網羅しています。私たちがしなければならないことについて、隠されたことや、怪しいこと、秘密のことは何もありません。
In this particular scripture, he covers the whole plan of the gospel in just a few sentences. There is nothing hidden or mysterious or secret about what we need to do.
まず、ベニヤミン王は、私たちにとって最も重要なことは神を信じることであると教えています。私たちは神が存在し、神が万物を創造されたことを信じる必要があります。それを信仰の基盤として、私たちは神が天においても地においても、すべての知恵とすべての力を持っておられることを信じなければなりません。
First, king Benjamin teaches us that the most important thing for us is to believe in God. We need to believe that God exists and that he created all things. With that as a foundation for our faith, we then must believe that God has all wisdom and all power, both in heaven and on earth.
もし私たちがこれらのことを信じるなら、神は私たちの理解の範囲以上のことをご存知であることを理解するでしょう。神は私たち一人一人をご存知で、私たちにとって何が最善かをご存知です。私たちの物事に対する限られたこの世的な見方では、神のように物事の永遠の重要性を理解することはできません。私たちが進んで戒めを守り、聖霊の促しに耳を傾ける限り、神は私たちを聖約の道へと導いてくださいます。
If we believe those things, we will understand that God knows more than we know. God knows each of us as individuals and knows what is best for us. With our limited mortal view of things, we are not able to comprehend the eternal significance of things the way God can. He guides us along the covenant path, as long as we are willing to keep the commandments and listen to the promptings of the Holy Ghost.
次に私たちは自分の罪を悔い改める必要があります。私たちは皆、間違いを犯します。私たちは皆、罪があります。再び清くなるためには、私たちは皆、悔い改める必要があります。悔い改めるとは変わることを意味します。自分の罪を悔い改めるとき、私たちは自分の行動を変えなければなりません。私たちはそれらの罪を捨て、二度と繰り返さないように努めなければなりません。
We next need to repent of our sins. We all make mistakes. We all have sins. We all need to repent in order to become clean again. To repent means to change. When we repent of our sins, we must make changes to our behavior. We must forsake those sins and try hard never to repeat them.
悔い改めるときは、謙虚な心で、誠意をもって悔い改める必要があります。ただ流れに身を任せるだけでは、悔い改めたことにはなりません。真の悔い改めには、自分のしたことを後悔する必要があります。それは神の前で自分の弱さと不甲斐なさを認めることを求められます。謙虚な心で誠実に悔い改めるなら、私たちは赦されるでしょう。
When we repent, we must do so with a humble heart and with sincerity. If we just go through the motions, we are not repenting. True repentance requires us to feel sorry for the things that we have done. It requires us to acknowledge our weaknesses and unworthiness before God. If we repent with a humble heart and with sincerity, we will be forgiven.
最後に、ベニヤミン王は私たちに行動を起こすよう命じています。聖約の道に沿った行動のすべてには、私たちの側の行動が必要です。私たちが神を愛していること、そして神の戒めに従うことを、私たちは天父に示す必要があります。努力せず、働かずして良いことは何も起こりません。私たちは自分の役割を果たす必要があります。
Finally, king Benjamin gives us a charge to take action. Everything that we do along the covenant path requires action on our part. We need to show Heavenly Father that we love him and that we will obey his commandments. Nothing good can happen without effort and without work. We need to do our part.
彼の最後の教えは、「これらのことをすべて信じるならば、必ずそれを実行しなさい。」というものです。
His final instructions to us are simply, “Now, if you believe these all these things see that you do them”.
新しい週が始まります。ベニヤミン王が私たちに与えた勧告を心に留めて過ごしましょう。神への信仰をさらに深めましょう。神は私たち一人一人をご存知であり、約束されたすべての祝福を受けれるよう望んでおられることを忘れないようにしましょう。戒めを守り、常に聖霊の促しに耳を傾けることを忘れないようにしましょう。罪を悔い改め、再び清くなることがいかに大切かを覚えていましょう。さて、これらのことを信じるなら、それらを実行しましょう。
As we go through this coming week, let’s remember the counsel that king Benjamin gave to us. Let’s have greater faith in God. Let’s remember that God knows each of us and wants us to receive all the promised blessings. Let’s remember to keep the commandments and to always listen to the promptings of the Holy Ghost. Let’s remember how important it is to repent of our sins and to become clean again. Now, if we believe these things, let’s all do them.
