この簡潔な言葉によって、天の使いはこの地球の全歴史において最も重要な出来事について告げました。
With those simple words, angelic messengers announced the most important event in the entire history of this earth.

もはや死が存在の最終的な終わりではなくなるのです。もはや死が義人の肉体を捕らえ、保持する力を持つことはなくなるのです。もはや死が何も支配することはなくなるのです。
No longer would death be the final end of existence. No longer would death have the power to capture and hold the bodies of the righteous. No longer would death reign supreme.
そのかたは、ここにおられない。よみがえられたのだ。

ブルース・R・マッコンキー長老は、三つの最も重要な出来事は、この世の創造、堕落、そしてイエス・キリストの贖罪であると教えました。最初のふたつの出来事は、大いなる贖罪に必要な前兆でした。
Elder Bruce R. McConkie taught that the three most important events are the creation of this world, the fall, and the Atonement of Jesus Christ. The first two events were necessary precursors to the great Atonement.
イエス・キリストの贖罪がなければ、全人類は失われていたでしょう。誰も天の両親のもとに戻って暮らすことはできないでしょう。誰もより良い人生を望むことはできないでしょう。誰も永遠の幸福を手に入れることはないでしょう。
Without the Atonement of Jesus Christ, all mankind would be lost. No one would be able to return to live with our Heavenly parents. No one would be able to hope for a better life. No one would have any eternal happiness.

Although it had long been foretold, even the apostles who were with the Savior during his mortal ministry had a hard time understanding the Resurrection. Until they had come to the empty tomb and seen for themselves, they had doubts. Some even had doubts until they saw the Resurrected Lord in person.
今日私たちには、イエス・キリストが生きておられるという数多くの証があります。私たちには古代の使徒たちの証があります。私たちには生ける使徒たちの証があります。そして最も重要なことは、私たちには預言者ジョセフ・スミスの証があるということです。
We today have testimony after testimony that Jesus Christ lives. We have the testimonies of the ancient apostles. We have the testimonies of living apostles. And most importantly, we have the testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith.

それは私たちにとって何を意味するのでしょうか？
What does that mean to us?
それは私たちに罪を悔い改める機会があることを意味します。それは私たちに清くなる機会があるということです。それは、私たちが天の両親のもとに戻り、再び一緒に暮らす機会があることを意味します。
It means that we have the opportunity to repent of our sins. It means that we have the opportunity to become clean. It means that we have the opportunity to return and live once again with our Heavenly parents.
それは、私たちが希望を持つことができるという意味です。それは、たとえこの世がどんなに困難な人生であっても、永遠の報いを喜びをもって楽しみにできるという意味です。それは、死は単に現世の試練や困難からの「卒業」であることを意味します。
It means that we can have hope. It means that, no matter how difficult this life is, we can look forward with joy to our eternal reward. It means that death is simply a “graduation” from the trials and hardships of this mortal life.

All this is possible because of the sacrifice of our Savior, his Atonement and his Resurrection.

As we celebrate Easter this year, let’s remember that we are celebrating the most important event ever to happen. Let’s remember that it is because of our Savior Jesus Christ that we have hope. Let’s remember that, if we keep the commandments and endure to the end, we will have joy through all eternity. Let’s remember that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer.
