そこであなたがたは、もはや異国人でも宿り人でもなく、聖徒たちと同じ国籍のものであり、神の家族なのである。またあなたがたは、使徒たちや預言者たちという土台の上に建てられたものであって、キリスト・イエスご自身が隅のかしら石である。エペソ人二章１９−２０

Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; and are built upon the foundation of apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone.  Ephesians 2:19-20

今週末、私たちは生ける預言者と使徒からメッセージを聞く機会がありました。パウロは、預言者と使徒を持つことが主の教会の土台であると教えています。その土台の礎石は、救い主イエス・キリストです。

This weekend we have had the opportunity to hear messages from living prophets and apostles.  Paul teaches us that having prophets and apostles is the foundation of the Lord’s Church.  The cornerstone of that foundation is our Savior Jesus Christ.

教会で行うすべてのこと、すべてのレッスン、すべての活動、すべての集会は、私たちが救い主に近づくためのツールです。教会で行うことはすべて、私たちが救い主とその戒めについて更によく学ぶのを助けてくれるものです。教会で行うことはすべて、私たちが救い主に目を向ける助けとなります。

Everything that we do in the Church, every lesson, every activity, every meeting, is a tool to help us draw closer to our Savior.  Everything we do in the Church is to help us learn more about our Savior and his commandments.  Everything we do in the Church helps us to focus on the Savior.

パウロの時代、教会は世界のごく狭い地域に限られていました。支部の数も少なく、教会員の数も少ないでした。しかし、パウロの時代でさえ、教会員はさまざまな言語を話し、さまざまな民族的背景を持っていました。

In Paul’s time, the Church was limited to a very small area of the world.  There were very few Branches and only a small number of members.  But even in Paul’s time, the members of the Church spoke many different languages and came from many different ethnic backgrounds.

今日、教会はまさに世界規模の教会となり、ほとんどすべての国に教会員がいます。宣教活動は、パウロの時代のように限られた地域だけでなく、何百もの国々で行われています。パウロの時代と同じように、今日の教会員はさまざまな言語を話し、さまざまな民族的背景を持っています。

Today, the Church truly is a world-wide Church, with members is almost every country in the world.  Missionary work takes place not just in a few limited areas, as it did in the days of Paul, but in hundreds of countries.  Just like in the days of Paul, members of the Church today speak many different languages and come from many different ethnic backgrounds.

しかし、会員がどの言語を話そうと、どの民族の出身であろうと、誰もが同じ「教会」の言葉を話します。世界中のどの国の会員も、同じ教義に基づいてレッスンを行っています。彼らは同じ集会に出席しています。同じ召しを持っています。最も重要なことは、イエス・キリストが私たちの救い主であり、贖い主であるという証を全員が持っているということです。

But no matter what language a member speaks, or which ethnic group a member may be from, everyone speaks the same “Church” language.  Members in every country of the world teach lessons based on the same doctrines.  They attend the same meetings.  They have the same callings.  Most importantly, they all have a testimony that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer.  

教会では、私たちは皆、天父に愛された息子や娘であるということをより深く理解するようになります。私たちは皆、どの言語を話そうと、地球上のどこに住んでいようと、等しく愛されているのです。イエス・キリストの福音は、世界中の誰にとっても同じなのです。

In the Church, we come to a greater understanding that we are all beloved daughters and sons of Heavenly Father.  We are all loved equally, no matter what language we speak or where we live on earth.  The gospel of Jesus Christ is the same for everyone, anywhere in the world.

主は、パウロが教えたように、私たちを教え導くために預言者と使徒を与えてくださいました。今日、私たちは、地上のさまざまな場所から召された使徒たちを知っています。七十人会のメンバーも世界中の国々から召されています。使徒としてであれ、初等協会の教師としてであれ、教会で奉仕するための唯一の資格は、イエス・キリストを証し、イエスに仕えたいと願うことです。

The Lord has given us prophets and apostles to teach us and to guide us, just as Paul taught.  We see today apostles that are called from many different places on earth.  Members of the Seventy are also called from countries all around the world.  The only qualification for service in the Church, whether as an apostle or as a Primary teacher, is having a testimony of Jesus Christ and a desire to serve him.  

北アメリカでも南アメリカでも、日本でも、アフリカでも、ヨーロッパでも、海の島々でも、教会員は生ける預言者と使徒に導きを求めています。世界のすべての地域にいる教会員はイエス・キリストを証し、その戒めを守ろうとしています。私たちは皆、同じ祝福と神権の儀式を受けており、同じ永遠の祝福を受ける資格を得ることができます。

In North and South America, in Japan, in Africa, in Europe, in the isles of the sea, members look to living prophets and apostles for guidance.  Members of the Church in all those areas of the world testify of Jesus Christ and seek to keep his commandments.  We all receive the same blessings and ordinances of the Priesthood and we all can qualify for the same eternal blessings.

本当に、私たちは皆、「聖徒たちと同じ国籍のものであり、神の家族」なのです。

Truly, we are all “fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God”.

新しい週が始まります。私たちが現在目にしている偉大な奇跡について考えてみましょう。私たちは、福音が神の子どもたちすべてに行き渡るという、古今東西の預言の成就を目の当たりにしているのです。私たちは皆、神の前では平等であり、この地上の一人ひとりが神の愛する息子や娘であることを忘れないようにしましょう。イエス・キリストが私たちに教えてくださったように、常に尊敬と礼儀をもって隣人に接しましょう。世界中で救いの業を導いている、生ける預言者や使徒のメッセージに注意を払えますように。

As we go through this next week, let’s reflect on the great miracle that we are witnessing in our own time.  We are seeing the fulfilment of prophecy, both ancient and modern, that the gospel will go forth to all of God’s children.  Let’s remember that we are all equal before God and that each person on this earth is a beloved son or daughter of God.  Let’s always treat others with respect and courtesy, just as Jesus Christ taught us.  Let’s pay attention to the messages of living prophets and apostles, as they guide the work of salvation throughout the world.
