わたしが去った後、狂暴なおおかみが、あなたがたの中にはいり込んできて、容赦なく群れを荒らすようになることを、わたしは知っている。また、あなたがた自身の中からも、いろいろ曲ったことを言って、弟子たちを自分の方に、ひっぱり込もうとする者らが起こるであろう。使徒行伝２０:２９−３０

For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.  Also of you own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.  Acts 20:29-30

初期の使徒たちは，自分たちの死後に起る背教について多くの警告を残しています。彼らは来るべき困難な時代に備えて人々を準備するために熱心に働きましたが、神権の権能が失われることも知っていました。

The early Apostles left us many warnings about the apostasy that would follow after their deaths.  They worked diligently to prepare the people for the difficult times that were coming, but they knew that the priesthood authority would be lost.

この節で使徒パウロは、福音の教えを曲げ、多くの人々の証を失わせる「狂暴なおおかみ」について警告しています。「狂暴なおおかみ」とは、イエス・キリストに従うのではなく、サタンに従うことを選ぶ人々のことです。この「狂暴なおおかみ」は、アダムの時代から、地上のすべての世代に存在していました。

In this verse, the Apostle Paul warns of “grievous wolves” that would corrupt the gospel and destroy the testimonies of many people.  The “grievous wolves” are those people who choose to follow Satan rather than to follow Jesus Christ.  These “grievous wolves” have been in every generation on earth, since the days of Adam.  

旧約聖書には、主の御業を破壊しようとした邪悪な人々について多くの記述があります。モルモン書には、主の御業を破壊しようとしたシーレムやニーホルのような多くの人々のことが書かれています。新約聖書では、パウロや他の使徒たちが、主の御業を破壊しようとした人々について警告を残しています。私たちの時代にも、主の御業を破壊しようとした人々が大勢います。

The Old Testament has many accounts of wicked people who tried to destroy the work of the Lord.  The Book of Mormon tells of many people, like Sherem or Nehor, who tried to destroy the work of the Lord.  In the New Testament, Paul and the other Apostles wrote warning messages about people who tried to destroy the work of the Lord.  In our own dispensation, there have been many who have tried to destroy the work of the Lord.

これらの邪悪な人々には共通の特徴があります。彼らはみな失敗しています。一時的には成功するかもしれませんが、最終的には失敗に終わります。

All these wicked people have one common trait.  They all failed.  They may have success for a limited time, but in the end, they will all fail.  

主の御業は決して破壊されることはありません。主はサタンよりも大きな力を持っておられ、主の御業は常に前進しています。試練や困難の時期があるかもしれませんが、最終的には必ず主が勝利されるのです。

The work of the Lord can never be destroyed.  The Lord has greater power than Satan and the Lord’s work will always go forward.  There may be periods of trial and difficulty, but the Lord will always win in the end.

新約聖書を学ぶと、「狂暴なおおかみ」が教会を腐敗させることができたのは、使徒たちの死後であったことがわかります。神権指導者がおらず、啓示もなかったため、教会員は真理を教えられる人が誰もいなかったのです。

As we study the New Testament, we see that it was only after the death of the Apostles that the “grievous wolves” were able to corrupt the Church.  Without priesthood leadership, without revelation, the members had no one to turn to who could teach them the truth.

預言者や使徒が再び地上に現れる時代に生きていることは、大きな祝福です。神から預言者への啓示があることを知ることは、大きな祝福です。真理を教えられることを知ることは、大きな祝福です。

It is a great blessing to live in a time when Prophets and Apostles are again on the earth.  It is a great blessing to know that there is revelation from God to his Prophet.  It is a great blessing to know that we can be taught the truth.  

私たちの中には、主の御業を破壊しようとする多くの「狂暴なおおかみ」がいます。サタンとその従者たちは、私たちを騙そうと懸命です。私たちがイエス・キリストとその福音を信じるのをやめさせようとするのです。彼らは、私たちが愚かで、時代遅れで、間違った方向に導かれていると言います。インターネットやソーシャル・メディアで、彼らは偽りの主張を広めています。

There are still many “grievous wolves” among us, people who still want to destroy the work of the Lord.  Satan and his followers try very hard to trick us.  They want us to stop believing in Jesus Christ and in his gospel.  They tell us that we are foolish, that we are old fashioned, that we are mis-guided.  They spread false claims on the Internet and on social media.

しかし、私たちは真理を知っています。イエス・キリストがわたしたちの救い主であり贖い主であることを知っています。私たちはジョセフ・スミスが福音と神権の力を回復したことを知っています。 私たちはモルモン書がイエス・キリストのもう一つの証であることを知っています。私たちは「狂暴なおおかみ」が私たちを騙そうとしているときでも、戒めを守れば祝福されることを知っています。

But we know the truth.  We know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer.  We know that Joseph Smith restored the gospel and the priesthood power.  We know that The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ.  We know that we will be blessed if we keep the commandments even when the “grievous wolves” are trying to trick us.

新しい週が始まります。どのような形であれ「狂暴なおおかみ」に気をつけて過ごしましょう。 聖書を熱心に学びましょう。集会に出席しましょう。召しを果たしましょう。救い主イエス・キリストの良き従者になりましょう。最後には、すべての「狂暴なおおかみ」は打ち負かされ、主は必ず勝利されるのです。

As we go through this next week, let’s watch out for “grievous wolves”, in whatever form they may come in.   Let’s be diligent in our study of the scriptures.  Let’s attend our meetings.  Let’s serve in our callings.  Let’s be good followers of our Savior Jesus Christ.  In the end, all those “grievous wolves” will be defeated.  The Lord will always win.
