イエスはもう一度大声で叫んで、ついに息をひきとられた。すると見よ、神殿の幕が上から下まで真二つに裂けた。また地震があり、岩が裂け、また墓が開け、眠っている多くの聖徒たちの死体が生きかえった。そしてイエスの復活ののち、墓から出てきて、聖なる都にはいり、多くの人に現れた。マタイ２７:５０−５３
Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. Matthew 27:50-53
十字架上の恐ろしい苦しみが終わることで、主の地上での教導の業が完了しました。救い主は園で人知では知ることができない苦しみのために血の汗を流されました。そして捕われ、裁きという残酷な出来事があり、最後に十字架上での苦しみが終わったのです。
As the horrible agony of the crucifixion came to an end, the mortal portion of the Lord’s earthly ministry was completed. The unknowable pain in the Garden, which made the Savior sweat drops of blood because of the pain, followed by the cruelty of the events surrounding his arrest and trial, and finally the agony of the cross were over.
イエス・キリストの大いなる贖罪が成し遂げられたのです。私たち一人一人が心からの悔い改めによって罪を赦される道が開かれました。救い主の苦しみと死によって、私たちはそれぞれ、悔い改める力という素晴らしい賜物を頂きました。
The great Atonement of Jesus Christ had been accomplished. The way was now open for each of us to be forgiven of our sins by sincere repentance. By the suffering and death of our Savior, we each received the incredible gift, the ability to repent.
私たちは皆、罪を犯します。私たちは皆、過ちを犯します。私たちは皆、戒めを破ります。
We all commit sin. We all make mistakes. We all break the commandments.
もし御父と救い主イエス・キリストの偉大な愛がなければ、私たちは永遠に暗闇の中に放り出されてしまうでしょう。私たちが天の両親のもとに戻り一緒に住むことができず、再び清くなることもできませんでした。
If it were not for the great love of the Father and of our Savior Jesus Christ, we would be cast off into darkness forever. There was no way for us to return and live with our Heavenly parents, no way for us to become clean again.
私たちが再び清くなる唯一の方法は、兄であるイエス・キリストが私たちの代わりに罪の代価を払ってくださることでした。主がおられなかったら、私たちは皆道に迷い、永遠にサタンの支配下に置かれることになるでしょう。
The only way for us to become clean again was for our Elder Brother, Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty of our sins for us. Without him, we would all be lost and would be subject to Satan forever.
地球さえも、贖罪の恐ろしい出来事を理解していました。エルサレムとゼラヘムラで、地震、嵐、岩が砕けるような現象が起きたと伝えられています。
Even the earth itself recognized the terrible events of the Atonement. In both Jerusalem and in Zarahemla, we are told that there were earthquakes, storms, and rocks breaking apart.
また、エルサレムとゼラヘムラの両方で、救い主の復活直後に多くの聖徒たちが復活し、多くの人々に姿を現わしたというのも興味深いことです。
It is also interesting to note that in both Jerusalem and in Zarahemla, many of the saints were resurrected shortly after the resurrection of the Savior and appeared to many people.
この地球上の全人類の歴史の中で、イエス・キリストの贖い以上に偉大な出来事はありませんでした。これほど永遠の効力を持つものは他にありません。私たち一人一人にとって、これほど大きな影響を与えるものは他にありません。天父の子供たち全員にとって、これほど重要なことは他にありません。
There has never been a greater event in the whole history of mankind on this earth than the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Nothing else has the eternal effects. Nothing else has a greater impact on each of us. Nothing else was so critical for all of Heavenly Father’s children.
救い主は私たちのために苦しみ、血を流し、命を落とされました。私たち一人一人のために。天父のすべての娘や息子のために。私たちは主に対してなんと大きな恩を受けていることでしょう。
Our Savior suffered, bled, and died for us. For every one of us. For every daughter or son of Heavenly Father. What a great debt of gratitude we owe to him.
その恩にどのように報いることができるでしょうか？
How do we repay that debt?
主が私たちに求めているのはただ一つ、戒めを守ることです。誰に対しても親切にするよう求められています。主は罪を悔い改めるように求めておられます。主は聖餐会に出席するよう求めています。
The only thing that he asks us to do is to keep his commandment. He asks us to be kind to everyone. He asks us to repent of our sins. He asks us to attend our Sacrament meetings.
主は私たちに毎日祈るように求めておられます。主は聖文を研究するように求めておられます。 主は他の人に仕えるよう求めておられます。
He asks us to pray every day. He asks us to study the scriptures. He asks us to serve others.
これらの簡単なことを実行すれば、イエス・キリストの贖罪によるすべての祝福が私たちのものとなります。 戒めを守る人に約束されたすべての祝福を受けることができるのです。私たちは天の家に戻り、永遠に生きる機会を得ることができるのです。
If we do these simple things, all the blessings of the Atonement of Jesus Christ will be ours. We will receive all of the blessings promised to those who keep the commandments. We will have the opportunity to return to our Heavenly home, to live forever.
新しい週が始まります。救い主が私たち一人一人のためにしてくださったことを覚えて過ごしましょう。イエス・キリストが私たちのために自ら負われた痛み、苦しみを忘れないでください。その贖罪がなければ、私たちは永遠にサタンの支配下に置かれることになることを覚えておきましょう。最善を尽くして、救い主の戒めを守り、救い主を愛していることを示しましょう。
As we go through this next week, let’s remember what the Savior has done for each of us. Let’s remember the pain, agony, and suffering that Jesus Christ took on himself for us. Let’s remember that, without that Atonement, we would be subject to Satan forever. Let’s do our best to keep his commandments and to show him that we love him.
