またパンを取り、感謝してこれをさき、弟子たちに与えて言われた、「これは、あなたがたのために与えるわたしのからだである。わたしを記念するため、このように行いなさい」。食事ののち、杯も同じ様にして言われた、「この杯は、あなたがたのために流すわたしの血で立てられる新しい契約である」。ルカ２２:１９−２０

And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.  Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.  Luke 22:19-20

救い主の地上での教導の業が終わりに近づいたとき、過越の祭りを祝うために使徒たちと会われました。過越の祭りは、ユダヤ教の祭りの中で最も神聖なものでした。モーセの時代に初めて制定され、イスラエルがまだエジプトにいたときに、主が守ってくださったことを思い起こさせるものでした。

As the final hours of his earthly ministry drew near, the Savior met with the apostles to celebrate the Passover.  The Passover was the most sacred of all the Jewish feasts.  It was first instituted in the days of Moses and was a remembrance of the Lord’s protection when Israel was still in Egypt.

モーセは、イスラエルの子供たちをエジプトの束縛から解放するために、主から召されました。パロは、無償の労働力を提供してくれる奴隷を失いたくありませんでした。彼らに建物を建てさせ、エジプト人に仕えさせようとしました。

Moses was called by the Lord to free the children of Israel from bondage in Egypt.  Pharoah did not want to lose the slaves who provided free labor.  He wanted to keep them and have them build buildings and serve the Egyptians.

モーセは、主の指示により、イスラエルの子供たちを自由にしなければ、主はエジプトに災いをもたらすとパロに告げました。パロはそれを拒み、結果、幾つかの災いが起こりました。最後の災いは、最も恐ろしいものでした。モーセはパロに、主の天使がエジプト全土を巡り、すべての家族の長男を殺すと告げました。

Moses, as directed by the Lord, told Pharaoh that unless the children of Israel were set free, the Lord would bring plagues upon Egypt.  Pharaoh refused and a series of plagues occurred.  The final plague was the most terrible of all.  Moses told Pharaoh that the angel of the Lord would go through all of Egypt and slay the firstborn male in every family.

モーセは、この災いの危険性をイスラエル人に警告しました。彼らは子羊の血を取り、その血を家の戸枠の上と横に塗るようにという厳しい指示が与えられました。そうすれば、主のみ使いがその家の上を通り過ぎるだろうと。

Moses warned the Israelites about the danger of this plague.  They were given strict instructions to take the blood of a lamb and put the blood on the top and sides of the door frame of their homes.  If they did this, the angel of the Lord would pass over that home.  

何世紀にもわたって、過越の祭りは謙虚さと敬虔さをもって祝われてきました。神の子羊である救い主が、神のすべての子供のために、過越の祭りで自らの血を流して偉大な贖罪の犠牲となられたことは、非常に興味深いことです。

Down through the centuries, the Feast of the Passover was celebrated with humility and reverence.  It is very interesting that the Savior, the Lamb of God, would make his great Atoning Sacrifice for all of God’s children by shedding his own blood at the Passover.

その最後の過越の食事で，救い主は新しい儀式，すなわち聖餐の儀式を制定されたのです。私たちはもう過越の祭りは守っていませんが、毎週聖餐式で敬虔に聖餐にあずかります。

At that last Passover meal, the Savior instituted a new ordinance, the ordinance of the sacrament.  We do not keep the Feast of the Passover any longer, but we do reverently partake of the sacrament each week in Sacrament meeting.

この一番最初の聖餐式では、救い主自身が聖餐の意味と象徴を説明しておられます。割かれたパンは、全人類のための供え物として捧げられた主の割れた体を象徴しています。葡萄酒は、私たちを罪から清めるために流された主の血を象徴しています。

In this very first Sacrament meeting, the Savior himself explains the meaning and symbolism of the sacrament.  The broken bread symbolizes the broken body of the Lord, the body which was given as an offering for all mankind.  The wine symbolizes the blood of the Lord, shed for us to cleanse us from sin.

救い主は、聖餐式を「新しい契約」と呼んでおられます。これは、聖餐式が過越の祭り（「古い契約」）に取って代わることを意味しています。過越の祭りが子羊の血によって災いから守られたように、聖餐式は神の子羊の血によって罪から守られることを表しています。

The Savior refers to the sacrament as the “new testament”.  This means that the sacrament replaces the Passover (the “old testament”).  Just as the Passover represented the protection from the plague by using the blood of a lamb, so the sacrament represents protection from sin through the blood of the Lamb of God.  

救い主は、その偉大な贖いの犠牲によって、私たちが罪を悔い改めることを可能にされました。救い主は、私たちが自分の過ちや失敗からきれいになることを可能にしてくださいました。救い主は、私たちが天父のもとに戻り、再び共に生きることを可能にしてくださったのです。

Through his great Atoning Sacrifice, the Savior made it possible for us to repent of our sins.  He made it possible for us to become clean from our mistakes and errors.  He made it possible for us to return and live again with Heavenly Father.

イエス・キリストの贖罪を思い起こさせるために、わたしたちは共に集い、聖餐にあずかるよう命じられています。聖餐式にふさわしく参加することで、私たちはバプテスマで交わした誓約を覚えていることを主に示すことができるのです。私たちが戒めを守るなら、主の御霊が常に共にいてくださると約束されているのです。

As a reminder of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we are commanded to meet together to partake of the sacrament.  As we worthily partake of the sacrament, we show the Lord that we remember the covenants that we each made at baptism.  We are promised that we will always have his Spirit to be with us, if we keep the commandments.  

毎週、自分の罪を悔い改め、ふさわしく聖餐にあずかることができるのは大きな祝福です。

It is a great blessing to be able to repent of our sins each week and then worthily partake of the sacrament.

新しい週が始まります。聖餐式の象徴を覚えて、過ごしましょう。イエス・キリストの贖罪を忘れないようにしましょう。私たちが聖餐式にふさわしく参加することによって得られる幸福と喜びを覚え、私たちが罪を悔い改めるために支払われた代価を忘れないようにしましょう。すべての戒めを守るために最善を尽くしましょう。

As we go through this next week, let’s remember the symbolism of the sacrament.  Let’s remember the Atonement of Jesus Christ.  Let’s remember the happiness and joy that will come as we worthily partake of the sacrament.  Let’s remember the price that was paid to make it possible for us to repent of our sins.  Let’s do our best to keep all the commandments.
