ひとりのみどりごがわれわれのために生れた、ひとりの男の子がわれわれに与えられた。まつりごとはその肩にあり、その名は、『霊妙なる義士、大能の神、とこしえの父、平和の君』ととなえられる。イザヤ書９：６
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
As we have learned during our study of the Old Testament, the birth of our Savior was foretold by many of the Old Testament prophets in many dispensations. From the days of Adam, prophets have testified of the coming of the Lord, of his birth, and of his ministry.
旧約聖書から学んできたように、救い主の誕生は多くの時代に、数多くの旧約聖書の預言者によって予言されてきました。アダムの時代から預言者たちは主の来臨と誕生、任務について証してきました。
In this well-known Old Testament scripture, the prophet Isaiah testifies to us about the birth of the Lord. He reminds us that the “babe of Bethlehem” will in fact be “The mighty God”, “The Prince of Peace”.
このよく知られた旧約聖書の聖句では預言者イザヤが主の誕生について証しています。彼はその「ベツレヘムの幼子」がまさに「大能の神」「平和の君」であることを私たちに思い起こさせています。
It is only through the Atonement of our Savior that we have any hope at all. Through that great eternal and infinite sacrifice for us, Jesus Christ opened the way for us to return to our Heavenly Father.
私たちは救い主の贖いを通してのみ、あらゆる事に希望を持つことができます。その偉大で無限の犠牲によりイエス・キリストは私たちが天父のみもとに戻れるよう道を開いてくださいました。
He did everything in his life for our benefit. His only desire was to help each of us to be happy again. All he asks in return is that we keep the commandments.
イエス様はその生涯を通して私たちの益となる事をしてくださいました。主の唯一の望みは、私たち一人一人が再び幸せになれるよう私たちを助けることです。主が見返りとして望まれることは、ただ主の戒めを守る事だけです。
As we celebrate the birth of the Savior, we often give gifts to our family members and to our friends. Perhaps this year, we can give a gift to the Lord Jesus Christ. He does not want gifts of material things. Everything on this earth already belongs to him. What he does want is for each of us to be obedient to the commandments.
救い主の誕生を祝うとき、私たちはよく家族や友人に贈り物をします。今年、私たちは主イエス・キリストに贈り物ができるかもしれません。主は物質的な贈り物などは望んでおられません。この地上のすべてのものは主に属しています。主が私たち一人一人に望んでおられるのは主の戒めに従順であることです。
If we keep the commandments, we show our Savior that we love him. We show him that we are truly grateful for his great Atoning sacrifice. We show him that we want to do the things he taught us to do.
戒めを守ることで私たちは救い主を愛していることを示すのです。私たちは主の偉大な贖いの犠牲に心からの感謝の気持ちを示します。私たちは主が教えてくださったことを行ないたいという意志を示すのです。
Each of us, rich or poor, young or old, can give this gift to the Savior. Each of us can be obedient. Each of us can repent and do better. Each of us can walk in faith each day.
富んだ者や貧しい者、老いも若きも関係なくだれでも救い主にこの贈り物をささげることができます。だれでも従順になれます。だれでも悔い改めて行いを改善できます。だれでも毎日信仰の中を歩むことができます。
I know that if we will do these things, it will be a great gift to our Savior. He will bless us for our efforts. He will guide us through our trials. He will lead us back home.
そのように行なうことが救い主へのすばらしい贈り物になると私は知っています。救い主は私たちの努力を祝福してくださり、私たちが試練の中にいるときも導いてくださいます。救い主は私たちが再び天の家に戻れるよう導いてくださいます。
I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior. I know that he is the Son of God. I know that it is through his Atonement that we can have hope. I know that these things are true.
イエス・キリストが私たちの救い主だと私は知っています。主が神の子であり主の贖いを通して希望を持つことができると私は知っています。これらの事が真実だと私は知っています。
May we remember the birth of our Savior every day of our lives. May we show him that we love him by keeping his commandments. May we walk in faith every day.
救い主の誕生の意味を日々の生活の中で心に留めて過ごしましょう。戒めを守ることで私たちが主を愛していることを示しましょう。毎日信仰の中を歩みましょう。
