But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children; to such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.  Psalms 103:17-18

The blessings and promises of the Lord are eternal and unchanging.  They are the same for someone living in the days of Adam, in the days of Moses, in the days of Isaiah, in the days of Nephi, in the days of Alma, in the days of Joseph Smith, or in the days of President Nelson.

主の祝福と約束は永遠で不変です。それはアダムの時代、モーセの時代、イザヤの時代、ニーファイの時代、アルマの時代、ジョセフ・スミスの時代、またネルソン大管長の時代の人にとっても同じことです。

Heavenly Father loves all of his children equally.  He wants to bless all of his children equally.  He wants them all to feel joy equally.

天父はすべての子供たちを平等に愛しておられます。天父はすべての子供たちを平等に祝福したいと考えておられます。すべての子供が平等に喜びを感じるよう望んでおられます。

The way we qualify for those blessings is also equal.  Everyone has the same opportunity to receive blessings.  No one is rejected, blocked, or prevented from receiving those blessings.

それらの祝福を受ける資格を得る方法も平等です。誰もが同じように祝福を受ける機会を与えられています。それらの祝福を拒否される人はいません。

Our opportunity to receive those blessings is all dependent upon our own choices.

それらの祝福を受ける機会は、すべて私たち自身の選択にかかっています。

In this Psalm, king David teaches us this principle again.  He reminds us that the mercy and blessings of the Lord are unchanging.  

この詩篇で、ダビデ王はこの原則を教えています。彼は主の憐れみと祝福が不変であることを私たちに思い起こさせています。

It does not matter when we live on the earth.  It does not matter where we live on the earth.  

私たちが地上にいつ住んでいるか、また地上のどこに住んでいるかは問題ではありません。

The only thing that does matter is our decision to obey the commandments of the Lord.

重要なのは、主の戒めに従うという私たちの決断だけです。

David reminds us that it is those people who keep their covenants with the Lord that will receive the promised blessings.

ダビデは、約束された祝福を受けるのは、主との聖約を守る人々であることを私たちに思い起こさせています。

He also teaches us that it is not enough to know about the commandments of the Lord.  We must take action.  We must not only know about the commandments.  We must also actively keep the commandments and stay on the covenant path.

彼は、主の戒めを知るだけでは十分でないことも教えています。私たちは行動を起こさなければなりません。戒めについて知っているだけではいけません。積極的に戒めを守り、聖約の道を歩まなければなりません。

When the Primary song, “I am a Child of God”, was first sung, it was in a General Conference.  The original words were “teach me all that I must know”.  Elder Spencer W. Kimball was the next speaker after the singing.  He said that this was a wonderful song and that it had a great message.  However, he said, it should say “teach me all that I must do”, not “teach me all that I must know”.

His message was a reminder to us that it doesn’t matter what we know.  It only matters what we do.  We may not know all of the doctrine of the gospel.  We may not know all of the stories in the scriptures.  We may not know much about Church history.

That does not really matter.

It is what we do each day that matters.  We need to keep the commandments to the best of our ability every day.  We need to teach our children and our families to keep the commandments.  We need to stay firmly on the covenant path.  That is what matters.

私たちの毎日の行いが重要なのです。私たちは毎日、最善を尽くして戒めを守る必要があります。子供たちと家族に戒めを守るように教えなければなりません。聖約の道をしっかりと歩まなければなりません。そのことが重要なのです。

As we go through this next week, let’s remember what king David and what President Kimball taught us.  Let’s remember that we need to study and to learn about the gospel, but even more importantly, we need to keep the commandments.  If we do that, we will be blessed, our children will be blessed, and our children’s children will be blessed.

ダビデ王とキンボール大管長が教えたことを覚えて新しい週を過ごしましょう。福音について学び理解する必要があることを忘れないようにしましょう。そうすれば、私たちも祝福され、子供たちも祝福され、子供たちの子供たちも祝福されます。
