さらにまた、あなたがたがわたしに会ったと証し、わたしが実在することを知っていると証するとき、あなたがたのその言葉を信じる人々は、なおさら幸いである。まことに、あなたがたの言葉を信じて、心底謙遜になって、バプテスマを受ける人々は、幸いである。彼らは火と聖霊を授かり、罪の許しを受けるからである。第三ニーファイ１２：２
And again, more blessed are they who shall believe in your words because that you shall testify that ye have seen me, and that ye know that I am. Yea, blessed are they who shall believe in your words, and come down into the depths of humility and be baptized, for they shall be visited with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and shall receive a remission of their sins.
3 Nephi 12:2
This scripture was given by the Savior during his ministry to the Nephite people. In this chapter of 3rd Nephi, the Savior gives the Nephites many of the same scriptures that he had given to the people in Jerusalem, as recorded in the 5th Chapter of Matthew.
この聖句は救い主がニーファイ人に教導されている時のものです。第3ニーファイのこの章で救い主はエルサレムの人々にも教えられた多くの聖句をニーファイ人に教えられました。その教えはマタイ伝5章にも記録されています。
The Savior tells the Nephites that they are very blessed, because they have been able to actually see the Savior in person. That is a wonderful blessing for them.
ニーファイ人が救い主にまみえることが出来るのは祝福であると救い主は言われました。それは彼らにとって素晴らしい祝福です。
He tells them that they have a duty and a responsibility to testify about Jesus Christ. He tells them that they are to write down their testimonies of the Savior for future generations.
彼らはイエス・キリストについて証しする義務と責任があると救い主は言われています。後世の人々に救い主について証を書き残すよう言われました。
They are to do this for a very important reason. Even though it may have seemed like a small and simple thing to those Nephite people, their testimonies help convince other people about the truthfulness of the gospel. Their testimonies help others believe in Jesus Christ. Their testimonies help others to be baptized.
彼らにはそうすべき非常に重要な理由があるのです。ニーファイ人にはそれが小さく簡単なことに見えても彼らの証は福音の真実性について人々を説得する助けになるのです。彼らの証は人々がイエス・キリストを信じる助けになります。彼らの証は誰かがバプテスマを受ける助けになります。
It would have been wonderful to have been in that group of Nephites and to have seen the Savior in person. What a wonderful experience that would have been.
ニーファイ人の仲間に加わり、救い主本人にまみえたことは素晴らしい事だったでしょう。何と貴重な経験だったことでしょう。
It is unlikely that any of us will have an opportunity to see the Savior during our own mortal existence. But there are great promises made to those who do not get to see the Savior in person. Some of those promises are included in this scripture.
私たちがこの死すべき世で救い主にまみえる機会はおそらくないでしょう。しかし救い主本人にまみえる事のない人にも大いなる約束があります。その幾つかの約束がこの聖句に含まれています。
We are told that “more blessed” are the people who will believe in Jesus Christ without the opportunity to see him in person. We will be “more blessed” as we develop faith in Jesus Christ by reading and studying the words of the Nephites and others who have testified of Jesus Christ.
「なおさら幸い」な者はイエス・キリストに相まみえることなく信じる者であると言われています。私たちはニーファイ人やイエス・キリストを証しする者の言葉を読み、学ぶことでイエス・キリストへの信仰を育むと「なおさら幸い」な者となります。
Why are we “more blessed”? It is easy to believe in something that you can see with your own eyes. That does not require much faith.
どうして私たちは「なおさら幸い」な者なのでしょう。自分の目で見えるものを信じることは易しいです。それにはそんなに信仰を必要としません。
We who have not had the opportunity to see Jesus Christ with our own eyes must rely on the testimonies of the prophets to develop our faith. We must exercise greater faith than those who were able to see and to touch the Savior. We show our love for Jesus Christ as we develop faith in him without being able to see him.
自分の目でイエス・キリストを見る機会のない私たちは預言者の証に頼り自分の信仰を育まねばなりません。’私たちは救い主にまみえ触れることのできるものより更に大きな信仰を使わねばなりません。私たちはイエス・キリストに会うことがなくても信仰を育むことでイエス・キリストへの愛を示すのです。
We are promised that, if we believe in the words of the prophets, and are humble, we will be able to be baptized. We are promised that we will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Most importantly, we are promised that we will receive a remission of our sins.
もし預言者の言葉を信じ謙遜であればバプテスマを受けれると私たちは約束を受けています。聖霊の賜物を受けると約束を受けています。最も大切なのは私たちの罪の赦しを受けるという約束を受けていることです。
What great blessings are promised to us!
何と素晴らしい約束でしょう！
Let’s study the words of the prophets who have testified of our Savior. Let’s be humble. Let’s be worthy of having the Holy Ghost to guide us and direct us each day of our lives. Let’s qualify ourselves to receive that greatest of all blessings, a remission of our sins.
救い主の証をしている預言者の言葉を学びましょう。謙遜でいましょう。毎日の生活の中で導いてくれる聖霊を受けるにふさわしくいましょう。すべての祝福の中で最も素晴らしい罪の赦しを受ける資格を持てるようにしましょう。
