ところが、石が 墓からころがしてあるので、中にはいってみると、主イエスのからだが見当たらなかった。そのため途方にくれていると、見よ、輝いた衣を着たふたりのものが、彼らに現れた。女たちは驚き恐れて、顔を地に伏せていると、このふたりの者がいった、「あなたがたは、なぜ生きた方を死人の中にたずねているのか。そのかたは、ここにおられない。よみがえられたのだ。まだガリラヤにおられたとき、あなたがたにお話しになったことを思い出しなさい。」ルカ２４:２−６
And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulcher, and two angels standing by it in shining garments. And they entered into the sepulcher, and not finding the body of the Lord Jesus, they were much perplexed thereabout; and were affrighted, and bowed down their faces to the earth. But behold, the angels said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee. Luke 24:2-6
“Why seek ye the living among the dead?”
「あなたがたは、なぜ生きた方を死人の中にたずねているのか？」
The greatest event that has ever happened on this earth is the Atonement and Resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The entire Plan of Salvation rests upon that epic event. Our own eternal happiness and our opportunity to repent are made possible only through the sacrifice of the Savior.
これまでに、この地上で起こった最大の出来事は、救い主イエス・キリストの贖罪と復活です。救いの計画の全ては、その壮大な出来事に基づいています。私たちの永遠の幸福と悔い改める機会は、救い主の犠牲があることで可能となります。
The Savior spent about three years preaching the gospel and ministering to the people in Jerusalem. In spite of his teaching and his miracles, only a few believed in him and in the gospel. Only a few followed him.
救い主は約３年間、エルサレムの人々に福音を宣べ伝え、教導の業を行われました。主の教えと奇跡にもかかわらず、主と福音を信じた者はほんのわずかでした。数人だけが主に従いました。
The apostles and the early Church members did not understand that the Savior had to die in order to redeem all mankind. They hoped that Jesus would stay with them and that the Church would last forever. It was a crushing blow to them when the Savior was condemned and crucified.
使徒たちと初期の教会員は、救い主が全人類を贖うために死ななければならないことを理解していませんでした。イエスが彼らと共にいて、教会が永遠に続くことを彼らは望んでいました。救い主が非難され、十字架につけられたとき、それは彼らにとって壊滅的な打撃でした。
Those three days of spiritual darkness among the Jews and actual physical darkness among the Nephites seemed like the end of all hope for the members of the Church.
ユダヤ人の間に起きた霊的な、またニーファイ人の間に起きた物理的な3日間の暗闇は、教会員にとってすべての希望の終わりのように見えました。
But, on that glorious Sunday morning, everything changed!
しかし、その輝かしい日曜日の朝、すべてが変わりました！
“Why seek ye the living among the dead?”
「あなたがたは、なぜ生きた方を死人の中にたずねているのか？」
This was the wonderful message of the two angels who were at the tomb the women arrived. At first, the women were puzzled, not being able to find the body that they had come to wash and to prepare for a proper burial. In spite of the Savior’s teaching that he would die and be resurrected, the Church members did not seem to understand that.
これは、女たちが到着した時、墓にいた二人の天使から聞いた素晴らしいメッセージでした。最初、女たちは戸惑いました。イエスの体を見つけることができず、洗って埋葬の準備をすることができませんでした。救い主が死んで復活するという教えにもかかわらず、教会員はそれを理解していないようでした。
“Why seek ye the living among the dead?”
「あなたがたは、なぜ生きた方を死人の中にたずねているのか？」
This question by the angels signified the accomplishment of the great Atonement of Jesus Christ. It signified that death was no longer all-powerful. It signified that all mankind will be resurrected and will once again stand in the presence of the Lord to be judged.
天使たちによるこの質問は、イエス・キリストの偉大な贖罪の成就を意味しました。それは、死がもはや全能ではなくなったことを意味しました。それは、すべての人類が復活し、裁かれるために主の前に再び立つことを意味しました。
Christ’s victory over death brought the great Plan of Salvation into full effect. It made it possible for us to repent of our sins. It made it possible for us to become clean. It made it possible for us to return to Heavenly Father and to live with him for the eternities.
キリストの死に対する勝利は、偉大な救いの計画を完全に現実のものとしました。それは私たちが自分の罪を悔い改めることを可能にしました。それは私たちが聖くなることを可能にしました。それは私たちが天父のもとに戻り、永遠に天父と共に暮らすことを可能にしました。
The Atonement of Jesus Christ opens the way to eternal salvation to all of Heavenly Father’s children. It assures us that each one of us will be resurrected. Without that great Atonement, there would be no hope, no joy, no happiness. There would only be misery, fear, and darkness.
イエス・キリストの贖罪は、天父のすべての子供たちに永遠の救いへの道を開きます。それは私たち一人一人が復活することを保証します。その偉大な贖罪がなければ、希望も喜びも幸福もありません。悲惨、恐れ、そして闇だけがあります。
As we celebrate Easter, let’s remember the wonderful events of that first Easter. Let’s remember what our Savior has done for each one of us. Let’s remember that it is only through Jesus Christ that we can be saved. Let’s remember these things and show our gratitude to our Savior by keeping his commandments.
復活祭を祝うとき、その最初の復活の素晴らしい出来事を思い起こしてみましょう。救い主が私たち一人一人のためになされたこと、そして、私たちが救われるのは、イエス・キリストを通してのみであることを忘れないでください。そのことを覚えて、救い主の戒めを守ることによって救い主に感謝の気持ちを示しましょう。
