But unto him that keepeth my commandments I will give the mysteries of my kingdom, and the same shall be in him a well of living water, springing up unto eternal life. Doctrine & Covenants 63:23
In August of 1831, the Prophet Joseph Smith, Sidney Rigdon, and Oliver Cowdery returned to Kirtland from their trip to Missouri. The Church leaders were concerned about Zion and wanted to know what they should do to help build up the Church there.

In inquiring of the Lord, the Prophet Joseph Smith received the revelation contained in Section 63 of the Doctrine and Covenants. This revelation contains a number of important instructions from the Lord.
預言者ジョセフ・スミスは主に尋ね、教義と聖約の63章にある啓示を受けました。この啓示には主からの多くの重要な指示が含まれています。
One of the key verses in this Section is verse 23.
この章にある大切な節は23節です。
In this verse, the Lord promises that he will give “the mysteries of the kingdom” to those who keep the commandments. The Lord also promises that those mysteries will be a “well of living water, springing up unto eternal life”.
主は戒めを守る人々に「王国の奥義」を与えるとこの節で約束されています。主はまた、その奥義が「生ける水の井戸となり、そこから永遠の命に至る水がわき出る」ことになると約束されています。
What are the “mysteries” of the kingdom?
王国の「奥義」とは何でしょうか？
In this case, the word “mysteries” means knowledge. It means knowledge that is not given to everyone. It means knowledge of sacred things.
この場合、「奥義」という言葉は知識を意味します。すべての人に与えられるわけではない知識を意味し、神聖なことがらの知識を意味します。
In 1831, there were still many mysteries yet to be revealed by the Lord.
1831年には、まだ主によって明らかにされていない多くの奥義がありました。
For example, the Word of Wisdom had not yet been revealed. The Word of Wisdom is knowledge. It is knowledge about the laws of health for the members of the Church. It is knowledge of the blessings that are in store for those who keep this commandment.
たとえば、知恵の言葉はまだ明らかにされていませんでした。知恵の言葉は知識です。それは教会員の健康の律法についての知識です。この戒めを守る人々のために用意されている祝福の言葉です。
The Kirtland Temple, the first temple in this dispensation, had not yet been dedicated or ever built. After the Kirtland Temple was dedicated, the Lord restored more knowledge about the priesthood, about our purpose here on earth, and about our eternal potential.
この神権時代において最初の神殿であるカートランド神殿は、まだ奉献されておらず、建てられてもいませんでした。カートランド神殿が奉献された後に、主は神権について、この地上での私たちの目的について、そして私たちの永遠の可能性についてより多くの知識を回復されました。
Even today, the Restoration continues. The Lord continues to reveal through his prophet important knowledge. President Nelson had frequently taught that the Restoration is continually moving forward, that revelation from the Lord continues to guide the Church, and that many more “mysteries” will be revealed in the years to come.
今日も回復は続いています。主は預言者を通して重要な知識を明らかにし続けておられます。ネルソン大管長は、回復が絶えず前進していること、主からの啓示が教会を導き続けていること、そして今後さらに多くの「奥義」が明らかになることを頻繁に教えてきました。
As we follow the prophets, as we receive additional knowledge, and as we keep the commandments, we are promised that we will receive “living water”.
預言者に従うとき、新たな知識を受けるとき、そして戒めを守るとき、私たちは「生ける水」を享受することを約束されています。
The living water is the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the knowledge that the Lord reveals to us. It is the testimony that we receive from the Holy Ghost that God lives and that Jesus Christ is our Savior.
生ける水はイエス・キリストの福音です。主が私たちに明らかにされるのは知識です。神が生きておられ、イエス・キリストが私たちの救い主であるということは、私たちが聖霊から受ける証です。
As we receive that “living water”, we will be directed by the Holy Ghost. We will want to keep the commandments. We will want to receive even more knowledge from the Lord. We will want to have stronger testimonies.
その「生ける水」を受けると、私たちは聖霊に導かれます。 戒めを守りたいと思い、主からさらに多くの知識を受けたいと感じるでしょう。私たちはより強い証を持ちたいと願うでしょう。
As we do these things, the “living water” will keep us on the covenant path and will lead us to eternal life.
私たちがそうするとき、「生ける水」は私たちを聖約の道にとどめ、永遠の命へと導きます。
As we go through this next week, let’s remember the great blessings of knowledge that the Lord has restored to the earth. Let’s remember that many wonderful things are yet to be revealed. Let’s remember to always keep the commandments and to be worth of the companionship of the Holy Ghost. Let’s receive the “living water” the Lord has promised to the faithful.
