And now, verily, verily, I say unto thee, put your trust in that spirit which leadeth to do good — yea, to do justly, to walk humbly, to judge righteously; and this is my Spirit. Verily, verily, I say unto you, I will impart unto you of my Spirit, which shall enlighten your mind, which shall fill your soul with joy; Doctrine & Covenants 11:12-13
In this world of uncertainty, when our normal lives have been completely changed, it is easy to feel worried, or scared, or alone. The people of the world are desperately seeking for peace, for security, and for stability.
この不安に満ちた世の中で、普段の生活が全く変わってしまうと私たちは心配し、恐怖や孤独を感じたりしがちです。人々は平和、安全、そして安定というものを必死に探し求めています。
The people of the world often think that peace or security or stability comes from being rich, or being famous, or being powerful. Very few of us are rich, or famous, or powerful. If that is the path to peace and security and stability, we are all left without hope.
人々は平和、安全、安定とは、お金があること、有名であること、権力があることなどから来ると考えがちです。 金持ち、有名、または権力のある人はほんの僅かです。それが平和と安全と安定への道であるならば、私たちは皆、希望のないまま過ごすことになります。
In this scripture, the Lord tells Hyrum, as well as all of us, how we can obtain the peace and security and stability we are searching for. It is something that is available to everyone. No one is excluded. No one is left out.
この聖句で、主は私たちが探している平和と安全と安定をどのように得ることができるかをハイラムと私たちに教えておられます。それは誰でもできることです。誰も例外ではありません。
The path to peace and security and stability is to “put your trust in that spirit”, the spirit that leads us to do good things. In other words, to have peace and security and stability, we need to keep the commandments of the Lord. We need to have faith in Jesus Christ. We need to listen to the promptings of the Holy Ghost. We need to go forward with faith, even in hard times.
平和と安全と安定への道は、「御霊を信頼する」ことです。それは私たちに善いことをするように導く御霊です。 言い換えれば、平和と安全と安定を得るには、主の戒めを守る必要があります。私たちはイエス・キリストを信じる必要があります。私たちは聖霊の促しに耳を傾ける必要があります。困難な時でも、信仰を持って前進する必要があります。
The Lord explains what we need to do. If we put our trust in the Lord, and follow his teachings, we will want to “do justly”. That means that we will be honest in our dealing with others. We will be kind to others. We will treat others the same way that we want to be treated.
主は私たちがしなければならないことを教えてくださいます。私たちは主に信頼を置き、主の教えに従うならば「公正に行動したい」と思うことでしょう。それは私たちが他の人との関係で正直になることを意味します。私たちは他の人に親切になります。私たちは自分に人からして欲しいように他の人を扱います。
As we do these things, we will not do them to be praised by other people. We will not seek to be famous. We will serve humbly. We will minister to others. We will serve in our callings. We will do whatever work the Lord needs us to do.
私たちがそのようにするとき、誰かに賞賛されるためにはしません。私たちは有名になろうとはしません。謙虚に奉仕します。私たちは他の人に仕えます。私たちは自分の召しを果たします。主が私たちに望んでおられる業を何でも行います。
As we put our trust in the Spirit of the Lord, we will be able to judge righteously. This means that we will see others as God sees them. We will not judge people by their appearance. We will judge people by the desires of their hearts. We will stand for right things, even when it is not popular. We will stand as witnesses of the truth.
主の御霊に信頼を置くことで、義にかなった判断ができるようになります。これは、神が彼らを見るように、私たちが他の人を見るということを意味します。外見だけで人を判断せず、その人の心を見て判断します。一般に受け入れられてなくても、私たちは正しいことを支持します。私たちは真理の証人として立ちます。
If we do these “small and simple things”, the Lord has promised us that he will “impart unto you of my Spirit”. The Spirit of the Lord will enlighten our minds and help us understand the principles of the gospel. The Spirit of the Lord will lead us to do even more good things.
私たちがこれらの「小さくて簡単なこと」をするならば、主は私たちに「私の御霊をあなたに授けよう」と約束されました。主の御霊は私たちの心を鼓舞し、福音の原則を理解するのを助けてくれます。主の御霊は私たちをさらに善いことをするように導きます。
Most importantly, if we do these things, the Spirit of the Lord will “fill your soul with joy”.
最も重要なことは、私たちがこれらのことをするなら、主の御霊は「あなたの霊に喜びを満たす」でしょう。
This is the great blessing we are all seeking. Even in uncertain times, we can be filled with joy if we follow these simple steps. We can have the companionship of the Spirit of the Lord. We can have our minds enlightened. We can be filled with joy.
これは私たち全員が求めている大いなる祝福です。不安な時でも、これらの簡単な手順を行えば、喜びに満ちあふれます。私たちは主の御霊と交わりを持つことができます。私たちの心が鼓舞され、喜びで満たされるのです。
As we go through this next week, let’s remember to seek for the spirit that leads us to do good. Let’s remember to do good things. Let’s remember the great blessings that will come as we keep the commandments. Let’s all have our souls filled with joy.
