Therefore blessed are ye if ye shall keep my commandments, which the Father had commanded me that I should give unto you. Verily, verily, I say unto you, ye must watch and pray always, lest ye be tempted by the devil, and ye be led away captive by him. 3 Nephi 18:14-15
In these chapters of 3rd Nephi, we continue to read about the wonderful events that took place when the Resurrected Savior appeared to the Nephites. These are some of the most significant chapters in the Book of Mormon.
第3ニーファイのこれらの章では、復活した救い主が、ニーファイ人に現れたときの素晴らしい出来事について述べられています。これらの章はモルモン書の中で最も重要なところです。
In the 18th chapter, the Savior introduces the ordinance of the sacrament to the Nephites and teaches them about its importance. The Nephites are commanded to always partake of the sacrament and to always remember Jesus Christ and his great Atonement.
第18章では、救い主はニーファイ人に聖餐の儀式を定められ、ニーファイ人にその重要性について教えておられます。ニーファイ人はいつも聖餐をとり、常にイエス・キリストと主の偉大な贖罪を思い起こすように命じておられます。
In verses 14 and 15, the Lord gives the Nephites (and us as well) a promise and a warning.
14節と15節では、主はニーファイ人（そして私たちにも）に約束と警告を与えておられます。
In verse 14, we are promised that we will be blessed if we keep the commandments that the Savior has given us. He reminds us that the commandments come from Heavenly Father. Heavenly Father commanded Jesus to give those commandments to us. If we follow the instructions of the Savior, and keep the commandments of the Father, we will receive all the promised blessings.
14節では、救い主の戒めを守れば祝福されるという約束を受けています。主は戒めが天の御父から来ていることを私たちに思い起こさせています。天父はそれらの戒めを私たちに与えるようイエスに命じられました。救い主の教えに従い、天父の戒めを守るならば、私たちは約束されたすべての祝福を受けます。
In verse 15, the Lord gives us a very clear warning. He warns us that we must “watch and pray always”.
15節で、主は私たちに非常に明確な警告を与えておられます。主は私たちが「常に目を覚ましていて祈る」よう私たちに警告しておられます。
Why?
何故でしょう？
The warning is about Satan and his temptations. The Lord knows that Satan is always trying to tempt us and to make us sin. Satan never gives up. He never stops trying. He never misses an opportunity to tempt us.
その警告とはサタンと彼の誘惑についてです。主は、サタンが常に私たちを誘惑し、罪を犯させようとしていることをご存知です。サタンは決してあきらめませんし、努力を止めることもありません。彼は私たちを誘惑するチャンスを決して逃しません。
Fortunately, the Lord has prepared a way for us to escape from the temptations of Satan. The Lord is more powerful than Satan. He will protect us from the temptations of Satan. He will always keep us safe.
幸いなことに、主は私たちがサタンの誘惑から逃れる道を備えてくださいました。主はサタンよりも力があります。主はサタンの誘惑から私たちを守ってくださり、私たちの安全を守ってくださいます。
But, we have to do our part if we want to be safe. We have to follow the steps Jesus Christ taught us. We have to do our best to keep the commandments.
しかし、私たちが安全でいたいならば私たち自分の役割を果たさなければなりません。私たちはイエス・キリストが教えてくださった方法に従わねばなりません。戒めを守るために最善を尽くさなければなりません。
Because Satan never gives up, the Lord has given us a commandment “to watch and pray always”. If we do that, we will be protected from Satan and his temptations. We will be safe. We will not be “led away captive” by Satan. Instead, we will enjoy all the blessings that have been promised to those who keep the commandments.
サタンは決して諦めないので、主は私たちに「常に目を覚ましていて祈りなさい」という戒めを与えられました。そうすることで、私たちはサタンとその誘惑から守られ、安全でいられるのです。私たちは悪魔に「捕らえられ」ることはありません。そのかわり、私たちは戒めを守る人々に約束されたすべての祝福を味わうのです。
It is our choice.
それは私たちの選択次第です。
Which will you choose, to be led away captive by Satan, or to be blessed by the Lord?
サタンに捕らえられるか、主に祝福されるか、あなたはどちらを選びますか？
As we go through this next week, let’s do our best to “watch and pray always”. Let’s do our best to keep all the commandments of the Lord. Let’s be worthy to receive all the blessings.
