それゆえ、悔い改めて幼子のようにわたしのもとに来る者を、わたしはだれでも受け入れよう。神の王国はこのような者の国である。見よ、このような者のために、わたしは自分の命を捨て、再びそれを得た。それゆえ、地の果てに至る人々よ、悔い改め、わたしのもとに来て救われなさい。第三ニーファイ９：２２

Therefore, whoso repenteth and cometh unto me as a little child, him will I receive, for of such is the kingdom of God.  Behold, for such I have laid down my life, and have taken it up again; therefore, repent, and come unto me ye ends of the earth, and be saved.  3 Nephi 9:22

In these chapters of 3rd Nephi, the sad tale of great destruction among the Nephites and Lamanites at the time of the crucifixion of the Savior is recorded.  Terrible earthquakes, tornados, and lightening changed the whole face of the earth.  Many of the wicked people were killed by the storms and tornados and earthquakes.

第３ニーファイでは、救い主が十字架におかかりになった時、ニーファイ人とレーマン人の間に起きた大きな破壊という悲しい出来事について記録されています。恐ろしい地震と竜巻、そして雷が多くの地形を変えました。邪悪な人々の多くは、嵐と竜巻と地震で死にました。

After all the destruction, there was darkness upon the face of the land for three days.  There was no light.  The people could not even light a fire.

それらの破壊の後、地上には三日間の暗闇がありました。光がなく、人々は火をつけることすらできなかったのです。

In the midst of this darkness and destruction, the voice of the Lord was heard.  The Lord explained that it was due to the wickedness of the people that all this destruction and death had taken place.  The Lord then asked the people a very important question.  In chapter 9, verse 13, the Lord asks, “will ye not now return unto me, and repent of your sins, and be converted, that I may heal you?”.

この暗闇と破壊の真っ只中、主の声が聞こえました。主は、このすべての破壊と死が起こったのは、人々の邪悪さのためであると説明されました。主はそれから人々にとても重要な質問をしました。9章13節で、主は「今​あなたがた​は​わたし​に​立ち​返り、自分​の​罪​を​悔い改め、心​を​改めよう​と​して​いる​か」と尋ねておられます。

The Lord wants to bless all of us.  His arms of mercy are always extended to everyone who will repent and keep the commandments.  

主は私たちすべてを祝福してくださいます。主の慈悲の腕は、常に悔い改めて戒めを守るすべての人に及びます。

In verse 22, the Lord repeats this plea.  He tells us that anyone who repents can receive all the blessings in store for the righteous.  No one is excluded.  No one is left out.  No one is rejected.

22節で、主はこの願いを繰り返しておられます。悔い改める人なら誰でも、義人のために準備されているすべての祝福を受けることができると主は約束されています。誰も除外されることはありません。誰も取り残されたり、拒絶されることもありません。

The requirements are simple.  We must repent and become “as a little child”.  

すべきことは簡単です。私たちは悔い改め、「幼子のように」なる必要があります。

Repenting is sometimes much easier than becoming like a little child.  We want to be in charge.  We want to make our own decisions.  We don’t want anyone telling us what to do.  

悔い改めることは、幼子のようになるよりもはるかに簡単です。人は自分で管理し、自分で決め、何をすべきか他人から言われたくありません。

But that is simply our own pride that makes us do that.  Pride is a very useful tool of Satan.  If we have pride, we are not teachable.  We are not humble.  We are not good disciples.

しかし、それは自分のプライドがそうさせているのです。プライドはサタンの使う非常に有効なツールです。 プライドがあると、私たちは謙虚に学ぼうとせず、謙遜になれず、良い弟子ではいられません。

The Savior says that it is for those who repent and who become as a little child that he laid down his life.  Through his great Atonement, he made it possible for us to repent.  He made it possible for us to be resurrected.  He made it possible for us to have eternal life.

救い主は、悔い改めて幼子のようになるために、主の命を捧げられました。主の偉大な贖いを通して、私たちが悔い改めることを可能にしてくださいました。主は私たちが復活することを可能にし、私たちが永遠の命を得ることを可能にされました。

During this unusual situation of COVID, it might be a good time to evaluate our own lives.  Many of us have more free time than in the past.  How are we using that time?  Are we using it to improve our level of spirituality?  Are we using it to spend more time with the scriptures?  Are we using it to become a better disciple of Jesus Christ?

コロナ禍の異常な状況の中ですが、それは私たちが自身の生活を評価する良い時かもしれません。私たちは、以前よりも多くの自由時間を持っています。その時間をどのように使用していますか？ 私たちの霊性のレベルを向上させるために使っていますか？私たちはそれを聖典に精通するよう、より多くの時間を使っていますか？ 私たちはそれをイエス・キリストのより良い弟子になるために使っていますか？

As we go through this next week, let’s remember the great Atonement of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Let’s remember that we all need to repent and to become “as a little child”.  Let’s remember that pride is a tool of Satan that keeps us from receiving the blessings we need.  Let’s remember the words of the Savior, “therefore repent, and come unto me ye ends of the earth, and be saved”.

新しい週が始まります。私たちの救い主イエス・キリストの偉大な贖いを忘れないで過ごしましょう。 私たちは皆、悔い改めて「幼子のように」なる必要があることを覚えておきましょう。 プライドは、私たちが必要とする祝福を受けられないようにするサタンの道具であることを覚えていてください。「それゆえ、地の果てに至る人々よ、悔い改め、わたしのもとに来て救われなさい」という救い主の言葉を忘れないようにしましょう。
