また、神の御子は御自分の民を購うために、将来この世に来られ、御自分の御名を信じる人々の背きを負われる。これらの人々は永遠の命を得る人々であり、これ以外の人々に救いは与えられない。アルマ書１１：４０
And he shall come into the world to redeem his people; and he shall take upon him the transgressions of those who believe on his name; and these are they that shall have eternal life, and salvation cometh to none else. Alma 11:40
In the 11th chapter of Alma, Alma and Amulek are teaching the people of Ammonihah. The people of Ammonihah had left the Church and did not believe in the gospel. In spite of great opposition, Alma and Amulek continued to teach and to testify.
アルマ書11章で、アルマとアミュレクはアモナイハの人々を教えています。アモナイハの人々は教会を離れ、福音を信じていませんでした。大きな反対にもかかわらず、アルマとアミュレクは教え、証し続けました。
In this verse, Amulek testifies to the people about the coming of the Savior. Amulek explains why the Savior will come and what his mission will be.
この聖句で、アミュレクは救い主の来臨について人々に証しています。アミュレクは救い主が来られる目的と使命について説明しています。
Amulek teaches us about two main components of the Savior’s mission.
アミュレクは、救い主の使命の2つの主要な要素について教えています。
First of all, the Savior came into this world for the specific purpose of redeeming his people. We are taught in the Book of Mormon that “there is no other name” through which salvation can come to us. It is only through the great Atonement of Jesus Christ that we have any hope of eternal life.
まず、救い主は御自分の民を贖うというはっきりした目的でこの世に来られました。私たちは救いをもたらす「名前は他にない」とモルモン書の中で教わっています。大いなるイエス・キリストの贖いを通してのみ私たちは永遠の生命への希望を持つことができるのです。
The Savior accomplished his mission by taking “upon him the transgressions of those who believe on his name”.
救い主は「彼の名を信じる人々の罪を負われる」ことによって使命を果たされました。
Our Savior suffered for all of our sins. He paid the price for us. His Atonement makes it possible for us to repent of our sins and to receive forgiveness.
救い主は私たちすべての罪のために苦しまれました。私たちの（罪の）代価を支払われたのです。救い主の贖いは私たちが罪を悔い改め、赦しを受けれることを可能にしてくれます。
Jesus Christ did his part and finished his work. Now it is up to us to do our part.
イエス・キリストは務めを果たされました。そして今、私たちの務めを行うかどうかは私たち次第なのです。
As Amulek teaches us, the only people who will have eternal life are those who believe on the name of Jesus Christ. Amulek says, “Salvation cometh to none else”.
アミュレクが教えているように、永遠の生命を受ける人はイエス・キリストの名を信じる者だけです。アミュレクは「これ以外の人々に救いは与えられない」と述べています。
Just like the people of Ammonihah, each one of us has the opportunity to hear about the mission of the Savior and to decide for ourselves whether to believe it or not.
アモナイハの人々のように、私たちもそれぞれ救い主の使命を聞き、自分自身でそれを信じるか否かを決める機会があります。
Salvation is free to everyone. No one is excluded or turned away. No one has to pay money for salvation. No one has to accomplish some great task for salvation.
救いは誰にでも無料です。 誰も例外ではありません。 救いのためにお金を払う必要はありませんし、誰かが自分の救いのために偉業を成し遂げる必要もありません。
All we have to do is to believe in Jesus Christ. If we believe in Jesus Christ, we will want to follow him. If we believe in Jesus Christ, we will want to keep his commandments. If we believe in Jesus Christ, we will want to teach others about his gospel.
私たちがしなければならないのは、イエス・キリストを信じることだけです。イエス・キリストを信じるなら、彼について行きたいと思うでしょう。 イエス・キリストを信じるなら、彼の戒めを守りたいと思うでしょう。 イエス・キリストを信じるなら、福音を他の人に伝えたいと思うでしょう。
To receive the great blessing of eternal life, we just need to do the small and simple things that the Savior has asked us to do. For our small and simple efforts, we will receive the promised blessings of eternal life.
永遠の命のすばらしい祝福を受けるには、救い主が要求される小さくて簡単なことをするだけでよいのです。私たちの小さくて簡単な努力だけで、私たちは永遠の命という約束された祝福を授かるのです。
As we go through this week, let’s remember what we have been taught by Amulek. Let’s remember that it is only through the great Atonement of Jesus Christ that we can repent of our sins. Let’s remember that salvation is free to everyone who wants it. Let’s remember to keep the commandments of our Savior and qualify for eternal life.
新しい週が始まります。アミュレクが教えてくれたことを忘れずに過ごしましょう。 私たちが罪を悔い改めることができるのは、イエス・キリストの偉大な贖いを通してのみ可能であることを覚えていましょう。 救いは、それを望むすべての人に無料で与えられることを忘れないでください。 救い主の戒めを守れば、永遠の命の資格を受けれることを覚えていましょう。
