しかし、もしあなたがたが十分に固い決意をもって主に立ち返り、主に頼り、力の限り主に仕えるならば、もしあなたがたがこのようにするならば、主は御自分の意のまま、思いのままに、奴隷の状態から救い出してくださるであろう。モーサヤ　７：３３

But if ye will turn to the Lord with full purpose of heart, and put your trust in him, and serve him with all diligence of mind, if ye do this, he will, according to his own will and pleasure, deliver you out of bondage.  Mosiah 7:33

This verse is from a talk given by king Limhi to his people, who were in bondage to the Lamanites.  King Limhi’s grandfather, Zeniff, had brought a group of people from Zarahemla to live in the land of Shilom.  King Limhi’s father was the wicked king Noah, to whom Abinadi was sent to testify of the coming of our Savior Jesus Christ.

この聖句はリムハイ王がレーマン人に束縛されていた人々に話したものです。リムハイ王の祖父ゼニフはシャイロムの地に住むためにゼラヘムラから人々を導き出しました。リムハイの父はアビナダイが救い主イエス・キリストの来臨について証した邪悪なノア王でした。

At the time this scripture was given, the people of king Limhi were suffering greatly because of their past sins.  They had tried to fight the Lamanites, but had been defeated. They had no way to escape from bondage.

この聖句が与えられた時、リムハイ王の民は彼らが過去に犯した罪のために非常に苦しんでいました。彼らはレーマン人と戦おうとしましたが敗れてしまいました。彼らには束縛から抜け出す手段がありませんでした。

But then, a man named Ammon led a group of men from Zarahemla out into the wilderness to find king Limhi and his people.  When king Limhi learned that Ammon and his brethren had come to help them, he was very happy.

しかし、その後、アンモンという名の人が、ゼラヘムラの男たちを率いて荒野に出かけ、リムハイ王とその民を見つけました。リムハイ王はアンモンとその兄弟たちが彼らを助けるためにやってきたことを知り、とても喜びました。

In this verse, king Limhi urges his people to repent and to serve the Lord.

この聖句では、リムハイ王は人々に悔い改めて主に仕えるよう促しています。

While we are not in physical bondage to the Lamanites, this same counsel applies to us.  We are all “in bondage” to sin. We have all committed sin. We have all made serious mistakes.

私たちはレーマン人のような肉体的な束縛にはあっていませんが、この同じ勧告は私たちにも当てはまります。 私たちは皆、罪に「束縛」されています。 私たちは皆、罪を犯しています。私たちは皆、重大な過ちを犯しています。

Just like the people of king Limhi, we too can repent.  We can turn to the Lord with full purpose of heart. We can serve the Lord with “all diligence”.  We can be delivered from the bondage of our sins.

リムハイ王の民のように、私たちも悔い改めることができます。 私たちは十分に固い決意をもって主に立ち返ることができます。 私たちは「力の限り」主に仕えることができます。 私たちは罪の束縛から救われることができます。

It is important to remember that the people of king Limhi were not immediately freed from their bondage.  The Lamanites did not disappear right away or give the people their freedom.

リムハイ王の民がすぐに束縛から解放されなかったことを覚えておくことは重要です。 レーマン人がすぐにいなくなったり、人々に自由を与えたりはしませんでした。

In order to escape from bondage, the people of king Limhi had to work.  They had to make a plan about how they could escape. They had to put that plan into action. 

束縛から抜け出すために、リムハイ王の民は行動しなければなりませんでした。 彼らはどのように抜け出すかについて計画を立てて、その計画を実行しなければなりませんでした。

It is the same with us.  We need to work to escape from sin.  We need to have a plan on how to move forward and become better.  We need to follow that plan.

私たちも同じです。 私たちは罪から逃れるために行動する必要があります。 どのように前進し、より良くなるための計画が必要です。そしてその計画に従う必要があります。

Our plan may include things like saying our prayers every day, reading the scriptures every day, studying the “Come, Follow Me” lessons, asking for forgiveness from those we have hurt, serving in our callings, meeting with the Bishop if necessary, and trusting in the Lord.

私たちの計画には、毎日祈ること、毎日聖典を読むこと、「私に従ってきなさい」のレッスンを勉強すること、傷つけた人に許しを求めること、召しに仕えること、必要に応じてビショップと会うこと、主を信頼することなどが含まれます 。

Like the people of king Limhi, we may not be immediately freed from the bondage of sin.  It will take work and effort on our part. It will require that we show the Lord that we have sincerely repented.  It will require us to trust in the Lord.

リムハイ王の民のように、私たちは罪の束縛からすぐに解放されないかもしれません。 私たちの行動と努力が必要です。 心から悔い改めたことを主に示す必要があります。 主を信頼する必要があります。

If we do repent, if we do trust in the Lord, if we do serve with all diligence, we will receive the blessings we are seeking.  It may not be today, or tomorrow, or the next day. It will come according to the will and pleasure of the Lord. But those promised blessings will come.

私たちが悔い改め、主を信頼し、力の限り主に仕えるならば、私たちが求めている祝福を受けるでしょう。それは今日や明日、翌日ではないかもしれません。 それは御自分の意のまま、思いのままにやってきます。 しかし、それらの約束された祝福は必ずやってきます。

As we go through this next week, let’s remember the words of king Limhi.  Let’s remember to do the things we need to do to escape from the bondage of sin.  Let’s remember that it takes work, planning, and a firm commitment to serve the Lord.

リムハイ王の言葉を忘れないようにし、新しい週を過ごしましょう。罪の束縛から脱出するために必要な事柄を忘れないでください。主に仕えるには、行動、計画、そして確固たる決意が必要であることを忘れないでください。
