そして祭司たちが、神の言葉を民に告げるために仕事を休めば、民もまた神の言葉を聞くために仕事を休んだ。そして、祭司たちが彼らに神の言葉を告げ終えると、彼らは皆、再び自分たちの仕事に戻り、熱心に働いた。教えを説く者は聞く者よりも偉いわけではなく、教える者は学ぶ者よりも偉いわけではないので、祭司は自分自身を自分の話を聞く者よりも優れているとは思わなかった。このように、彼らは皆、平等であった。そして、彼らは皆、各々自分の力に応じて働いた。アルマ章１：２６
And when the priests left their labor to impart the word of God unto the people, the people also left their labors to hear the word of God. And when the priest had imparted unto them the word of God they all returned again diligently unto their labors; and the priest, not esteeming himself above his hearers, for the preacher was no better than the learner; and thus they were all equal, and they did all labor, every man according to his strength. Alma 1:26
This is General Conference weekend. What a great blessing it is to be able to hear prophets, apostles, and other Church leaders teach us the word of God!
この週末は総大会です。預言者や使徒および他の教会指導者が私たちに神の言葉を教えることを聞けるのは何と大きな祝福でしょう。
In both The Book of Mormon and in the New Testament, we read about the experiences of earlier Church members. In both books, we are told that the Church had become so large that it was not possible for them to all meet together. Because of this growth, the people were divided into smaller groups, each being led by authorized priesthood leaders.
モルモン書と新約聖書の両方から初期の教会の経験について知ることが出来ます。両方の本で教会が大きくなったので彼らが全員集まることができなくなったと言われています。その成長のために人々は小さなグループに分けられ、それぞれ権能を受けた神権指導者によって導かれました。
We follow this same pattern today, with our own wards and stakes, where we can be taught by our assigned priesthood leaders. Being in small groups allows us to serve in our callings, to be instructed individually, and to belong to a ward “family”.
私たちは今日も同じ方法に従い、自分のワードとステークにおいて召された神権指導者たちから教えを受けることができます。小さなグループに所属することで自分の召しで奉仕し個別に指導を受け、ワードの「家族」に属することができます。
Sometimes, though, the people were commanded to gather together to hear important instructions. For example, king Benjamin required all his people to gather together so that he could teach them one last time before his death.
しかし、彼らは時折人々は重要な指導を受けるために集まるように命じられました。たとえばベニヤミン王は亡くなる前に最後の教えを伝えるためすべての民を招集しました。
In the days of Alma, the son of Alma, similar gatherings took place. In today’s scripture, we are taught about the importance of these general Church gatherings.
アルマの時代にも同様の集会が行われました。今日の聖典ではこれらの一般的な教会の集会の重要性について教えています。
We are taught that when the “priests left their labor to impart the word of God unto the people, the people also left their labors to hear the word of God”.
私たちは「祭司たちが、神の言葉を民に告げるために仕事を休めば、民もまた神の言葉を聞くために仕事を休んだ」と教えられています。
In our day, conferences have been an important part of the Church. Conferences give us the opportunity to hear from Church leaders. Those leaders have many assignments and are very busy. It is not possible for them to visit each of the wards in order to teach the people.
今日、大会は教会で重要なものとなっています。大会は私たちに教会の指導者から話を聞く機会を与えてくれます。これらの指導者は多くの割り当てをもっており、非常に忙しくしています。彼らは人々に教えるため各ワードを訪問することは不可能です。
We believe that God speaks to his prophets today. We believe that the Church is led by revelation. We believe that prophets and apostles teach us the word of God.
私たちは今日神が預言者に語っていることを信じています。また教会は啓示を通して導かれ、預言者と使徒は神の言葉を教えていると信じています。
General Conference is our special opportunity to hear directly from the Lord’s chosen servants. We can “hear with our ears and see with our eyes”. Even though we may be far away, we can participate in General Conference just as if we were there.
総大会は主の選ばれた僕たちから直接証を聞く特別な機会です。私たちは「耳をもって聞き目をもって見る」ことが出来ます。遠く離れていても、まるでそこにいるかのように総大会に参加できます。
Do not miss this great opportunity to be taught the word of God. Do your best to arrange your time so you can participate in General Conference. Do everything you can to be able to listen to the messages.
神の言葉を教れられるこの素晴らしい機会を逃さないようにしてください。総大会に参加できるよう時間を調整するために最善を尽くしてください。メッセージを聞くことができるように出来る限りの事をして下さい。
After the Conference, we have the opportunity to study and read the messages again in the Ensign and in the Liahona. We have been told that those messages are scripture. Those messages are the word of the Lord to us. Those messages contain important instruction for us, right now, today.
大会後も私たちは Ensign やリアホナで再びメッセージを読み学ぶ機会があります。私たちはこれらのメッセージは聖典であると教えられています。これらのメッセージは私たちに宛てた主の言葉です。それらのメッセージには今日私たちにとって重要な教えが含まれています。
Let’s do all that we can in order to participate in General Conference. Let’s do all that we can to be able to hear the words of living prophets and apostles. Let’s do all that we can to receive the instructions and revelation the Lord has for us.
総大会に参加するために最善を尽くしましょう。生ける預言者と使徒たちの言葉が聞くことができるよう私たちにできることをすべてしましょう。主が私たちのために用意された教えや’啓示を受けるため最善を尽くしましょう。
