見よ、キリストの御言葉は、永遠の喜びに至るまっすぐな道を指し示すものであるが、その御言葉を心に留めることが容易であるのは、約束の地に至るまっすぐの道を示すこの羅針盤に注意を払うのが、先祖にとって容易であったのと同じである。アルマ書３７：４４
For behold, it is as easy to give heed to the words of Christ, which will point to you a straight course to eternal bliss, as it was for our fathers to give heed to this compass, which would point unto them a straight course to the promised land. Alma 37:44
Every day, we have to make choices. We need to choose what to do. We are given many options and we need to make choices.
私たちは毎日沢山の選択をしなければなりません。何をすべきか選ばなければなりません。私たちには多くの選択肢がありますが、その中から選択する必要があります。
We always want to choose the right path. We know that if we choose the right path, we will be happy. We know that if we choose the right path, we will be blessed. We know that if we choose the right path, we will be following our Savior Jesus Christ.
私たちは常に正しい選択をしたいと思っています。私たちは正しい道を選べば幸せになれ、また祝福されると知っています。また正しい道を選べば、それは救い主イエスキリストに従うことだと知っています。
But sometimes, it seems difficult to choose the right path.
しかし時には正しい道を選ぶことが難しそうに思えます。
In this scripture, Alma teaches us about choosing the right path. He tells us to remember the Liahona that Lehi and his family used. The Liahona always showed them the right path to choose.
この聖句でアルマは正しい道を選ぶことについて教えています。彼はリーハイと彼の家族が使ったリアホナを覚えるように教えています。リアホナはいつも彼らに正しい道を示しました。
It would very nice if we could each have our own Liahona. If we had our own Liahona, we could just look at it and it would tell us which path to choose.
私たちがそれぞれ自分のリアホナを持てれば、さぞすばらしいでしょう。もしリアホナを持っていれば私たちはただそれを見ることでどちらが正しい道かわかるのです。
But in reality, we each do have our own Liahona.
でも実際には私たちは自分のリアホナを持っているのです。
Alma teaches us that we have “the word of Christ” to guide us. He tells us that it is just as easy for us to follow “the word of Christ” as it was for Lehi and his family to follow the directions of the Liahona.
アルマは私たちには私たちを導いてくれる「キリストの御言葉」があると教えています。彼は私たちが「キリストの御言葉」に従うことはリーハイと家族がリアホナの指示に従ったのと同じくらい簡単だと言っています。
Even with the Liahona, Lehi and his family sometimes made mistakes. Nephi tells us that the Liahona only worked if they were obedient. If they did not follow the directions of the Liahona, they had many problems (see Mosiah 1:17).
リアホナがあってもリーハイと家族は時々間違いを犯しました。ニーファイはリアホナは私たちが従順であるときのみ動いたと言っています。彼らがリアホナの指示に従わなかったとき、多くの問題に遭遇しました。（モーサヤ書1:17 参照）
It is the same in our own lives. We have the commandments. We have the scriptures. We have the General Conference talks. We have leaders who teach us.
それは私たちの人生でも同じです。私たちには戒めがあり、聖典があり、総大会のお話があります。また私たちを教え導いてくれる指導者がいます。
If we follow “the words of Christ”, we will always make the right choices. If we do not follow “the words of Christ”, we will make mistakes and will have more trials and problems. It is up to us to choose what we want to do.
もし「キリストの御言葉」に従うなら私たちは常に正しい選択ができます。もし「キリストの御言葉」に従わないなら私たちは間違いを犯し、更に多くの試練と問題を抱えることになります。私たちが何をしたいかを選ぶのは私たち次第です。
There is one more challenge. Even when we know what is right, Satan tries to trick us. He does not want us to make right choices. He wants us to be unhappy. So he tries to make us choose a path that we know is wrong.
もうひとつのチャレンジがあります。私たちは何が正しいのかわかっている時でも、サタンは私たちを騙そうとします。彼は私たちに正しい選択をして欲しくないのです。彼は私たちに不幸になって欲しいのです。そうです、サタンは私たちが間違っていると知っている道を選択させようとします。
How can we always choose the right path?
どうしたら私たちはいつも正しい道を選べるでしょう？
We can always choose the right path by following what Alma teaches us. We can always choose the right path by being obedient to the commandments. We can always choose the right path by praying each day. We can always choose the right path by reading our scriptures each day. We can always choose the right path by doing our best to follow Jesus Christ.
アルマの教えに従うことでいつも正しい道を選べます。戒めに忠実であることでいつも正しい道を選べます。毎日祈ることでいつも正しい道を選べます。毎日聖典を読むことでいつも正しい道を選べます。イエスキリストに従うよう最善を尽くすことでいつも正しい道を選べます。
I know that these things are true. I know that we have our own “Liahona” in the words of Christ. I know that we can always choose the right path. I know that Heavenly Father will always help us to choose the right.
私はこれらの事が真実だと知っています。私たちはキリストのみ言葉の中に自分自身の「リアホナ」があると知っています。私たちはいつも正しい道を選ぶことができると知っています。天のお父様は私たちが正しい道を選べるようにいつも助けてくださると知っています。
