神を信じなさい。神がましますこと、神が天と地の万物を創造されたことを信じなさい。神はすべての知恵を備え、 また天と地の両方でー切の権威を持っておられることをしんじなさい。さらに、人は主が理解される事柄すべては理解しないということを信じなさい。さらにあなたがたは、罪を悔い改めてその罪を捨て、神の御前にへりくだらなければならないことを信じなさい。そして、神があなたがたを赦してくださるように真心から求めなさい。これらのことをすべて信じるならば、必ずそれを実行しなさい。モーサヤ書４：９－１０
Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend. And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you; and now, if you believe all these things see that ye do them. Mosiah 4:9-10
In this scripture, king Benjamin teaches us the basic principles of the gospel.
この聖句ではベニヤミン王が福音の基本的原則について教えています。
The most basic principle of the gospel is faith in God.
もっとも基本的な福音の原則は神への信仰です。
King Benjamin teaches us that we need to believe in God. We need to believe that God has created all things for us.
ベニヤミン王は私たちは神を信じる必要があると教えました。私たちは神が私たちのためにすべてのものを創造されたことを信じなければなりません。
Everything we see in nature was created by God. Everything that exists in this world was created by God. This very world itself was created by God for us.
自然の中で見るすべてのものが神によって創られたのです。この世に存在するすべてのものが神によって創られたのです。まさにこの世界が神様によって私たちのために創られたのです。
We need to understand that God has all knowledge. God knows everything. He knows how to create worlds. He knows how to help each one of us. He knows what is best of each one of us.
私たちは神がすべての知識をお持ちだと理解しなければなりません。神は何でもご存知です。神は世界をどのように創造し、私たち一人ひとりをどのように助けたらよいかご存知です。神は私たち一人ひとりにとって何がベストなのかご存知です。
Just as a small child must trust his father to know what is right, we need to trust God. We need to remember that we do not understand all the things that God understands.
ちょうど小さな子供が父親が何が正しいかわかっていると信頼するように、私たちも神を信頼する必要があります。私たちは神が理解しておられることすべてを理解することはできないと覚えていなければなりません。
To have faith means to go forward without a “perfect knowledge”. To have faith means to submit our own will to the will of God. To have faith means being obedient to the commandments.
信仰を持つということは「完全な知識」を持たずに前進するということです。信仰を持つということは自分の意志を神の意志に委ねると言うことです。また信仰を持つということは戒めに従順であるということです。
The second basic principle of the gospel is repentance. Once we learn to have faith in God, we understand that we have all committed sins.
二番目の福音の基本原則は悔い改めです。ひとたび神への信仰を持つことを学ぶと、私たちは皆、罪を犯しているのだと理解します。
If we have faith in God, we will want to repent of those mistakes. If we have faith in God, we will want to be obedient. If we have faith in God, we will want to be like him.
神への信仰があるなら、それらの罪を悔い改めたいと望みます。神への信仰があるなら、従順でいたいと望みます。神への信仰があるなら、神のようになりたいと望みます。
Most importantly, king Benjamin teaches us that it is not enough just to believe these things. It is not enough to say we have faith in God. It is not enough to say that we want to repent. It is not enough to just believe.
最も重要なことはベニヤミン王が教えた、これらの事柄をただ信じるだけでは十分ではないということです。神への信仰があると言うだけでは十分ではありません。悔い改めたいというだけでは十分ではありません。ただ信じるだけでは十分ではありません。
King Benjamin teaches us that action is required. He tells us that if we believe these things, “see that ye do them”. It is only through our actions that we can receive the blessings. We need to show Heavenly Father that we love him and want to keep his commandments by actually keeping them.
ベニヤミン王は行動が必要だと教えました。彼はこれらのことを信じるならば「必ずそれを実行しなさい」と言いました。祝福は私たちの行動を通してしか受けられません。私たちは神を愛していることと戒めを守りたいことを、それらを実際に守ることで天の御父に示さねばなりません。
We need to have faith. We need to repent. We need to be obedient. We need to take action.
私たちは信仰を持つ必要があります。悔い改める必要があります。従順である必要があります。行動を起こす必要があります。
I know that if we will do these small things, we will receive great blessings. I know that the Lord will always bless us if we take action and do the things he has told us to do. I know that we can do this, with the help of the Lord.
私はこれらの小さなことを行うなら大きな祝福を受けると知っています。私たちがもし行動を起こし行うよう言われたことをするならば主はいつも私たちを祝福してくださると知っています。私は主の助けによってこれが出来ると知っています。
