さて、愛するわが子よ、彼らがかたくなであっても、わたしたちは力を尽くそう。働くことをやめれば、わたしたちは罪の宣告を受けるに違いない。わたしたちには、あらゆる義の敵を打ち破って、神の王国で安息を得るために、この土の幕屋に宿っている間に果たさなければならない務めがあるからである。モロナイ書９：６
And now, my beloved son, notwithstanding their hardness, let us labor diligently; for if we cease to labor, we shall be brought under condemnation; for we have a labor to perform whilst in this tabernacle of clay, that we may conquer the enemy of all righteousness, and rest our souls in the kingdom of God. Moroni 9:6
In this scripture, Mormon reminds his son, Moroni, about his duties and responsibilities to serve others. We all have those same duties and responsibilities.
この聖句でモルモンは息子モロナイに他の誰かに尽くす義務と責任について教えています。私たちも同じ義務と責任を持っています。
In the Church, each of us have callings and opportunities to serve. Some of those callings are exciting. Some of those callings are interesting. Some of those callings are difficult.
教会では各々奉仕する召しと機会があります。ある召しはわくわくするもの、あるものは楽しく、またあるものは難しいかったりします。
We know that we grow through challenges. If the path is easy to follow, we do not grow. It is only when we need to struggle up steep rocky paths that we grow.
私たちはチャレンジを通して成長します。もしたどる道が簡単ならば私たちは成長しません。私たちが成長するのは道が険しくごつごつした道で奮闘するときだけです。
In some of our callings, it seems like no one cares about what we do.
私たちのする召しのいくつかは誰もなんとも思っていないように見えます。
Maybe we have been assigned to be a home teacher or a visiting teacher to someone who does not want us to visit. Maybe we have been assigned to teach a Sunday School class with children or teenagers who don’t listen to the lesson. Maybe we have been assigned to a calling that seems unimportant.
私たちはもしかして訪問して欲しくないと思っているような誰かのホームティーチャーや家庭訪問教師に召されていることかもしれません。レッスンを聞きたがらない子供や十代の日曜学校のクラスを教える責任を受けていたり、重要に見えない責任を受けていることかもしれません。
Mormon teaches us in this scripture that it does not matter whether the people listen to us or not. The only thing that matters is that we fulfill our callings and assignments the best way that we can.
モルモンはこの聖句で人々が私たちに耳を傾けるか傾けないかは問題ではないと教えています。唯一大切なのは召しや責任を最善を尽くして成就しているかということです。
We are not responsible for how other people act. Everyone has their free agency. All we can do is to do our best to serve and to teach others.
私たちは他の人々がどう行動するかには責任ありません。皆、自由意志があります。私たちができることはただ最善を尽くして奉仕し誰かを教えるということです。
As long as we “labor diligently” in our assignment, we will receive all the blessings that have been promised. If we “cease to labor”, we do not receive those blessings. Instead, we “shall be brought under condemnation”.
私たちが「力を尽くして働く」責任を果たす限り（主が）約束されたすべての祝福を受けるのです。もし「働くことを止めれば」それらの祝福を受けません。かわりに私たちは「罪の宣告を受けるに違いない」のです。
Even the Savior himself was not able to convert all the people he taught and served. He never stopped trying to teach them. He never stopped serving them. He never stopped loving them.
救い主ご自身ですら教え仕えた人々を皆、改宗に導くことはできませんでした。主は決して教えるのをお辞めになりませんでした。主は仕えることや愛することをお辞めになりませんでした。
May we follow the example of the Savior and the teachings of Mormon. May we “labor diligently” in our callings. May we perform the labor that we have been given in this life.
主の模範とモロナイの教えに従いましょう。「力を尽くして」召しを果たしましょう。この世で与えられた勤めを遂行しましょう。
If we do these things, I know that we will “rest our souls in the kingdom of God”. I know that we will be greatly blessed for our service, even if no one else seems to care. I know that Heavenly Father sees our service and will help us and will bless us. We just need to do our part.
もしこれらを行うならば「神の王国で安息を得る」ことを知っています。誰も気にもとめない様な奉仕、働きでさえも偉大な祝福を受けると知っています。天父は私たちの奉仕、働きを見ておられ、私たちを助け、祝福してくださると知っています。私たちはただ自分たちのすべきことをするだけでいいのです。
