あなたは何の証拠があって神は実在せず、またキリストは来られないと言うのか。 あなたの言葉のほかには何一つ証拠がないと、わたしはあなたに告げる。アルマ書３０：４０
And now what evidence have ye that there is no God, or that Christ cometh not: I say unto you that ye have none, save it be your word only. Alma 30:40
In this scripture, Alma is speaking to Korihor. Korihor was teaching the Nephites that there was no God and that Christ will not come.
この聖句はアルマがコリホルに語っているものです。コリホルはニーファイの民に向かい神などおらずキリストも来ないと教えていました。
Throughout history, there have always been those who refuse to believe in God. They think that they are too smart to believe in God. They often, as Korihor did, demand that they be shown a sign before they will believe.
歴史を通して常に神を信じることを拒むものが存在しています。彼らは自分が賢いので神を信じる必要がないと考えます。多くの場合彼らはコリホルがしたように信じる前にしるしを見せてくれと要求します。
But, as Alma teaches us, Korihor and all those who say they do not believe in God have no evidence that God does not exist. All they have is their own opinion.
しかしアルマが教えているようにコリホルとほか神を信じないものたちは神が存在しないという証拠は持っていないのです。彼らはただ自分の意見を持っているだけなのです。
On the other hand, those who believe in God have many testimonies and many evidences that God lives. We have this earth, that was created by God for his children. We have the beauty of nature. We have the seasons of the year that move in their regular patterns.
その一方、神の存在を信じる者は多くの証と神が生きておられる証拠を持っています。私たちにはこの地球があり、それは神の子供たちのために神が創造されたものです。美しい自然があり、それが規則的なパターンで変化する季節があります。
We also have the scriptures, that teach us about God and about his plan for his children. The scriptures give us many testimonies of the prophets, both ancient and modern.
また私たちには神とその子供たちのための計画について教えている聖典があります。聖典には古代と現代の両方の預言者の多くの証が載っています。
The scriptures teach us that God does not change. The scriptures teach us that God loves all his children, no matter when they live on this earth.
聖典は神は変わらないことを私たちに教えています。聖典は神が全ての神の子供らがこの地上にいつ住んでいたかにかかわらず愛しておられることを教えています。
We have all these things that testify to us that God lives.
私たちには神が生きておられることを証するこれらすべてがあります。
Most importantly of all, we have our own testimonies. God does not expect us to rely on the beliefs of anyone else. He has taught us how we can each obtain our own individual testimony. We can each receive this great blessing by following the simple instructions given in the scriptures.
全ての中で最も重要なことは、私たちは自分自身の証を持っているということです。神様は私たちが他の誰かが信じていることに頼るようには期待しておられません。神様は自分自身の証をどのようにして得られるか教えてくださりました。私たちはこの聖典にある簡単な教えに従うことでこのすばらしい祝福を受けることが出来ます。
In the end, Korihor had to confess that he had been tricked by Satan. He said he knew that there was a God, but that Satan tricked him.
最後にコリホルは自分がサタンに騙されていたことを告白しました。彼は神が存在することを知っていたのにサタンが騙したのだと話しています。
So it will be in the end for all those who refuse to believe in God. Someday, they will all have to stand before God and be judged. The scriptures teach us that “every knee shall bow and every tongue confess” (Mosiah 27:31).
そうです、それが神様を信じることを拒絶する者のたどり着く結果なのです。いつの日か彼らは皆神の前に立たされ裁きを受けます。この聖句は「まことに、すべてのひざがかがみ、すべての舌が告白する」（モーサヤ書27:31）ことを教えています。
I know that God lives. I know that he is our Father. I know that he knows each one of us and that he loves us very much. He wants each of us to be happy in this life and to receive eternal life in the world to come. He has given us many witnesses that these things are true.
神が生きておられることを知っています。神が私たちの御父だと知っています。神は私たち一人ひとりをご存知でとても愛しておられることを知っています。神は私たちがこの世で幸せであり、来るべき世で永遠の命を受けるよう望んでおられます。神はこれらのことが真実であるという多くの証人を与えてくださいました。
I know that we can each receive our own testimonies of the truthfulness of the gospel.
私たちは福音の真実性を自分自身の証として受けることが出来ると知っています。
May we all be faithful. May we all be ready to testify that God lives. May we all receive the great blessings that Heavenly Father wants to give to us if we keep the commandments.
信仰強くありましょう。神が生きておられると証し出来るようにしておきましょう。私たちが戒めを守るときに天父が用意しておられる偉大な祝福を全員受けられますように。
