このように、神の命令は必ず成し遂げなければならないことが分かる。もし人の子らが神の戒めを守るならば、神は彼らを養い、強くし、また御自分が命じられたことを成し遂げる手段を与えらる。ニーファイ第一書１７：３

And thus we see that the commandments of God must be fulfilled.  And if it so be that the children of men keep the commandments of God, he doth nourish them, and strengthen them, and provide means whereby they can accomplish the thing which he has commanded them.1 Nephi 17:3

Just before Nephi gives us this scripture, he tells us about the hardships he and his family had to go through as they traveled in the wilderness.  He tells us about the difficult things they had to do.

ニーファイはこの聖句を残す前に荒野を旅するとき彼と家族が経験するだろう苦難について語っています。彼はなさねばならなかった難しい事柄を私たちに教えています。

He also tells us that even though they had great trials and difficulties, the Lord helped them.  He teaches us that the Lord will always prepare a way for us to do the things we are commanded to do.

また大きな試練や困難にもかからわらず主は彼らを助けてくださったと語っています。彼は主は常に主が命じられたことをなすための道を用意してくださると教えています。

Nephi teaches us that the work of the Lord must go forward.  Nephi and his family probably had no idea of the great things they were accomplishing.  They could only see the short term trials and problems of trying to survive their journey in the wilderness.

ニーファイは主の業は必ず前進しなければならないと教えてます。ニーファイと家族はおそらく彼らが成し遂げる偉大なことについてまったく理解していなかったことでしょう。ただ荒れ野の旅で生き残るため目先の試練と問題しか見えていませんでした。

But the Lord knew how important it was for Nephi and his family to travel to the promised land.  He knew they would have great difficulties.  He also knew that millions of people will be blessed by the things that Nephi and his family would do.

しかし主はニーファイとその家族が約束の地に行き着くことがどれほど重要なことであり、そのために大きな苦難を受けることもご存知でした。またニーファイとその家族が行うことから数百万の人々が祝福を受けることもご存知でした。

We each have trials and difficulties.  Some of the trials seem almost impossible to overcome.  Like Nephi and his family, we probably don’t understand why we need to go through that trial.  We do not see the great blessings that will someday come because of that trial.

私たちは各々試練や苦難を抱えています。試練のいくつかは克服不可能のように見えます。私たちはおそらくニーファイとその家族のようになぜ試練を通らなければならないか理解していません。私たちはいつの日かその試練によってやってくる偉大な祝福を見ていないのです。

While we may not understand the “why”, we do understand the “how”.  Just as Nephi teaches us, we know that the work of the Lord must move forward.  　We know that the Lord will provide a way for us to get through the trials and difficulties that we face.  

私たちは「なぜ」を理解できないにしろ「どのように」はわかっています。ニーファイが教えたように主の業は前進しなければならないのです。主は私たちが直面する試練や苦難を通り抜ける道を備えてくださいます。

Like Nephi and his family, it may take us many years to “travel through the wilderness”.   We do not know how long a trial will last.  We only know that the Lord knows our trials.  We know that the Lord will strengthen us, just like he strengthen Nephi and his family in their trials.

ニーファイとその家族のように「荒れ野を旅する」のに何年もかかるかも知れません。私たちは試練がどれほど続くのか知りません。私たちはただ主が私たちの試練をご存知であることを知っています。主はニーファイとその家族を試練のときに強められたように私たちも強めてくださいます。

May we go forward with confidence.  May we go forward knowing that the Lord loves us.  May we go forward knowing that the Lord knows each of us.  May we go forward knowing that the Lord will provide ways for us to endure our trials.  We just need to keep moving forward.

自信をもって前に進もうではありませんか。それは主が私たちを愛しておられ、私たち各々をご存知であり、また私たちが試練に耐えれるよう道を用意してくださるという知識をもっているからです。私たちはただ前進し続けねばならないのです。

I know that what Nephi teaches us is true.  I know that the Lord loves us and knows each one of us.  I know that the Lord will strengthen us and guide us and bless us as we strive to keep his commandments.

私はニーファイが教えたことは真実だと知っています。私は主が私たちを愛しておられ私たち一人ひとりをご存知であると知っています。私は主が私たちを強め、導かれること、そして主の戒めを守ろうと努力するとき祝福してくださると知っています。
