Having The Book of Mormon is a great blessing. If you think of the many miracles that took place so that we can have it today, it is truly amazing. It must be very important for us to have it.
モルモン書を持てることはすばらしい祝福です。今日私たちがモルモン書を手に出来るように起きた多くの奇跡を考えるとき、それは本当に驚きです。私たちがこれを手にすることはとても重要なことに違いありません。
As members of the Church, we have a duty to keep the commandments and to follow the things we are taught by the Prophets and Apostles. One of the things they teach us is that we need to read The Book of Mormon.
教会の会員として私達は戒めに従うことや予言者や使徒から教えられた事柄に従う義務があります。教えられたことの１つにモルモン書を読むことがあります。
The Prophet Joseph Smith, who suffered great hardships to bring us The Book of Mormon, said it is the most important book in this world. President Ezra Taft Benson said “no member of this Church can stand approved before God who has not carefully and thoughtfully read The Book of Mormon.”
モルモン書を世にもたらすため多くの苦難に苦しんだ予言者ジョセフスミスはモルモン書は世界で最も重要な書物であると言っています。またエズラ・タフト・ベンソン大管長はこう言われました。「この教会のいかなる会員もモルモン書を注意深く熟考して読むことなく神のみ前に認められ立つことはない。」
We know that we need to study the scriptures every day. We know that we need to make reading the scriptures a priority. We know that we need to keep this commandment.
私達は毎日聖典を読む必要があると知っています。私達は聖典を読むことを優先しなければならないと知っています。私達はこの戒めを守る必要があると知っています。
As we begin a new year, this is a good time to make a commitment to read the Book of Mormon completely. It does not matter if you have never read it completely before or if you have read it many times. It does not matter if you read it completely in a few months or if it takes you the entire year. The important thing is to read from the Book of Mormon every day.
新年を迎えるこの時はモルモン書を完全に読むと決心をする良い時です。過去に一度も完全に読んだことがないとか、すでに幾度も読んだことがあるとかは関係ありません。数ヶ月で完全に読むのか、または一年かかって読むのかは関係ありません。重要なのは毎日モルモン書を読むと言うことです。
Greater spiritual strength comes from reading The Book of Mormon. Greater faith comes from reading The Book of Mormon. Greater peace comes into our lives from reading The Book of Mormon.
さらなる霊的な強さはモルモン書を読むことから得られます。さらに強い信仰はモルモン書を読むことから得られます。モルモン書を読むことでさらに大きな平安が私たちの生活にやってきます。
May I offer you the challenge of reading The Book of Mormon completely this year?
今年、モルモン書を完全に読むことをチャレンジしてみたいと思います。
I know that The Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that we will be blessed as we make the time to read it. I know that this is important. And I know each of us can complete this challenge. Please make this commitment. Please read the entire Book of Mormon this year.
モルモン書が神様のみ言葉だと知っています。読むための時間を作るときに私達は祝福を受けると知っています。これは大切なことだと知っています。私たち一人一人がこのチャレンジを達成できると知っています。どうぞこの決心をしてください。どうぞ今年モルモン書を全部読んでください。
