For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
This week, the world will pause to remember the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. People will be kinder to each other. People will be more grateful for their blessings. People will be more charitable with those around them.
今週、世の人々は私たちの主であり救い主イエス・キリストの生誕に思いをはせるのではないでしょうか。人々はお互いにより親切になり、受けている祝福に感謝の気持ちを持つでしょう。また人々は周りの人に寛大で親切になるでしょう。
The birth of our Savior was foretold by ancient prophets in many lands. From the days of Adam, prophets have testified of the coming of the Lord, of his birth, and of his ministry. Many of the Nephite prophets also testified of these same truths.
救い主の誕生は多くの地で昔の預言者によって予言されてきました。アダムの時代から預言者たちは主の来臨と誕生、任務について証ししてきました。多くのニーファイ人の預言者もこの真理について証ししてきました。
In this well-known scripture, the prophet Isaiah testifies to us about the birth of the Lord. He reminds us that the “babe of Bethlehem” will in fact be “The mighty God”, “The Prince of Peace”.
このよく知られた聖句では預言者イザヤが主の生誕について証しています。彼はその「ベツレヘムの幼子」がまさに「大能の神」「平和の君」であることを私たちに思い起こさせています。
It is only through the Atonement of our Savior that we have any hope at all. Through that great eternal and infinite sacrifice for us, Jesus Christ opened the way for us to return to our Heavenly Father.
私たちは救い主の贖いを通してのみ、あらゆる事に希望を持つことができます。その偉大で無限の犠牲によりイエス・キリストは私たちが天父のもとに戻れる様、道を開いてくださいました。
He did everything in his life for our benefit. His only desire was to help each of us to be happy again. All he asks in return is that we keep the commandments.
イエス様はその生涯を通して私たちの益となる事のみしてくださいました。主の唯一の望みは私たち一人一人が再び幸せになれるよう私たちを助けることです。主が見返りとして望まれるのはただ主の戒めを守る事だけです。
As we celebrate the birth of the Savior, we often give gifts to our family members and to our friends. Perhaps this year, we can give a gift to the Lord Jesus Christ. He does not want gifts of material things. Everything on this earth already belongs to him. What he does want is for each of us to be obedient to the commandments.
救い主の誕生を祝うとき、私たちはよく家族や友人に贈り物をします。私たちは今年、主イエス・キリストに贈り物が出来るまもしれません。主は物質的な贈り物など望んでいません。この地上のすべてのものは主に属しています。主が私たち一人一人に望んでおられるのは主の戒めに従順であることです。
If we keep the commandments, we show our Savior that we love him. We show him that we are truly grateful for his great Atoning sacrifice. We show him that we want to do the things he taught us to do.
私たちが戒めを守ることで私たちが救い主を愛していることを示すのです。私たちは主の偉大な贖いの犠牲に心からの感謝の気持ちを示します。私たちは主が教えてくださったことを行ないたいという意志を示すのです。
Each of us, rich or poor, young or old, can give this gift to the Savior. Each of us can be obedient. Each of us can repent and do better. Each of us can walk in faith each day.
私たちは富みや貧乏人、老いも若きも関係なく救い主にこの贈り物をささげることが出来ます。だれでも従順になれます。だれでも悔い改めて行いを改善できます。だれでも毎日信仰の中を歩むことが出来ます。
I know that if we will do these things, it will be a great gift to our Savior. He will bless us for our efforts. He will guide us through our trials. He will lead us back home.
そのように行なうことが救い主へのすばらしい贈り物になると私は知っています。救い主は私たちの努力を祝福してくださり、私たちが試練の中にいるときも導いてくださいます。救い主は私たちが再び天の家に戻れるよう導いてくださいます。
I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior. I know that he is the Son of God. I know that it is through his Atonement that we can have hope. I know that these things are true.
イエス・キリストが私たちの救い主だと知っています。主が神の子であり主の贖いを通して私たちは希望を持つことが出来ると私は知っています。これらの事が真実だと私は知っています。
May we remember the birth of our Savior every day of our lives. May we show him that we love him by keeping his commandments. May we walk in faith every day.
救い主の生誕の意味を日々の生活の中で忘れないようにしましょう。戒めを守ることで私たちが主を愛していることを示しましょう。毎日信仰の中を歩みましょう。
