見よ、人の不死不滅と永遠の命をもたらすこと、これがわたしの業であり、わたしの栄光である。モーセ書１：３９
For behold, this is my work and my glory – – to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. Moses 1:39
This is a very well-known scripture. We use this scripture often.
これはよく知られた聖句で、私たちはこの聖句をしばしば引用します。
I would like to focus on one word in this scripture. One of the most important words in the scripture is the word “work”.
この聖句の一つの言葉に注目したいと思います。幾つか重要な言葉がありますが最も大切なのは「業」です。
The Lord says that bringing to pass “the immortality and eternal life of man” is his work.
主は「人の不死不滅と永遠の命」をもたらすことが主の業だと言われています。
He does not say that this is his hobby. He does not say that this is his interest. He does not say that this is his part-time job.
主はそれが趣味だとも、興味があることだとも言っておられません。主はまたパートタイムの仕事だとも言われてません。
The Lord says that this is his work.
主はこれが主の業だと言われています。
“Work” means something that requires much effort. It means something that is sometimes hard to do. It means something that must be done.
「業」とは何か大きな努力を要するもののことです。何か成し遂げるのが難しく、必ず成し遂げねばならないもののことです。
We are commanded to serve the Lord and to help with the work of the Kingdom.
私たちは主に仕え王国の業を手助けするよう戒めを受けています。
We do this by serving in our callings. We do this by home teaching and visiting teaching. We do this by helping others. We do this by working.
私たちは自分の受けている召しを果たすことでそれを行います。たとえばホームティーチングや家庭訪問教師によって、また他の誰かを助けることでそれを行います。私たちは働くことでそれを行います。
Our assignments in this life are not easy. Many times, we have great trials and difficulties. It is hard to live here in mortality.
私たちがこの世でなすよう与えられた務めは簡単ではありません。往々にして、私たちは大きな試練や困難に出会います。死すべきこの世で生きることは決してやさしくありません。
But that is all part of the plan.
しかしそれはまさに（神の）計画なのです。
We are here to learn to work. We are here to learn to serve. We are here to become like our Heavenly Father. We cannot do that without experiencing trials, hardships, and work.
私たちは働くことを学ぶためにここにいます。奉仕することを学び、私たちの天父のようになるためにここにいます。私たちは試練や苦難、働くことなくしてそれは出来ないのです。
We all have work to do in this life. Our reward in this life and in the life to come will be based upon our work here in this life. There are great blessings promised to those who work hard in this life.
私たちには全員この世でなすべき業があります。この世と来る世で私たちの受ける報いはこの生涯で私たちがどのように働いたかによるのです。この世で熱心に働いたものには素晴らしい祝福が約束されています。
I know that this life is difficult. I know that work is hard. But I also know that we will receive all the promised blessings if we work hard and keep the commandments. I know that the Lord will always bless us as we work hard to serve him.
私はこの人生は簡単ではないことを知っています。私は働くことが難しいことも知っています。しかし一生懸命働き戒めを守るならばすべての約束された祝福を受けることを私は知っています。私たちが主に仕えるため熱心に働くとき間違いなく私たちを祝福してくださることを知っています。
Let’s go forward this week and do the work that is here for us to do. Let’s remember why we are here in this mortal life. Let’s keep all the commandments.
今週も前に向かって歩みましょう、そして私たちがなすべき業を行いましょう。何故自分がこの死すべき世にいるのか覚えていましょう。すべての戒めを守りましょう。
