And now, my dearly beloved brethren and sisters, let me assure you that these are principles in relation to the dead and the living which cannot be lightly passed over, as pertaining to our salvation. For their salvation is necessary and essential to our salvation, as Paul says concerning the fathers – that they without us cannot be made perfect – neither can we without our dead be made perfect. Doctrine & Covenants 128:15
In Section 128 of the Doctrine and Covenants, the Prophet Joseph Smith teaches us about the work for the dead and our responsibility to assist in that wonderful work.
教義と聖約128 章では預言者ジョセフスミスが死者のための業、そしてそのすばらしい業の手助けする責任について教えています。
And it is a wonderful doctrine. It teaches us that all of our ancestors can be saved. It teaches us that they can enjoy the same eternal blessings that we enjoy. It teaches us that we can be eternal families.
それは素晴らしい教義です。私たちのすべての先祖が救われ、彼らも私たちと同じように永遠の祝福を味わい楽しみむことが出来ると教えています。私たちは永遠の家族になれるのです。
But along with the blessings, there is a great responsibility.
しかしその祝福には大きな責任が伴います。
We have the responsibility to search out our ancestors. We have the responsibility to find their names. We have the responsibility to take their names to the temple and get their work done.
私たちには先祖の探求という責任があります。彼らの名前を見つけ出し、儀式を執り行うために彼らの名前を神殿に提出するという責任があります。
The Prophet Joseph Smith teaches us in this scripture that finding our ancestors is “necessary and essential” to our own salvation. He teaches us that they cannot receive all the blessings promised to the faithful without our help. He also teaches us that we cannot receive all the blessings promised to the faithful if we do not keep this commandment.
預言者ジョセフスミスは先祖を探し出すことは私たち自身の救いのためにも「必要であり不可欠」であるとこの聖句の中で教えています。彼らは私たちの援助無しには忠実なものに約束されたすべての祝福を享受することはできないと教えています。また私たちがこの戒めを守らなければ忠実なものに約束されたすべての祝福を彼らが享受することはできないと教えています。
The Church provides many tools that help us. Family Tree is a very easy to use program. It has all the tools we need to get the temple work done for our ancestors.

I know that this great work for the salvation of the dead is true. I know that we have a great responsibility to search for our ancestors. I know that we have a great responsibility to get their temple work done. I know that, as we do this, we will receive great blessings.
私は死者のためのこの偉大な業が真実だと知っています。私たちには先祖を探求するという大きな責任があること、また彼らのために神殿の儀式を執り行う責任があることを知っています。私たちがこれを行うならば偉大な祝福を享受できることを知っています。
