まことに、主の啓示を否定し、主はもはや啓示や預言、賜物、異言、癒し、聖霊の力によって業を行われることはないと言う者は、災いである。第三ニーファイ２９：６

Yea, wo unto him that shall deny the revelations of the Lord, and that shall say the Lord no longer worketh by revelation, or by prophecy, or by gifts, or by tongues, or by healing, or by the power of the Holy Ghost.  3 Nephi 29:6

This scripture was given by Nephi, who lived during the time when the Savior visited the Nephite people.  Nephi writes that the coming forth of The Book of Mormon is a sign that the Lord has started his work to gather Israel.  

この聖句は救い主がニーファイの民を訪れられた時そこに住んでいたニーファイ人に与えられたものです。ニーファイはモルモン書の出現は主がイスラエルの集合の業をはじめられた徴であると書いています。

We live today in the times when Nephi’s prophecy is being fulfilled.  We have The Book of Mormon.  We see Israel being gathered in from all nations.  We see the restoration of the gospel and of the priesthood.

私たちはニーファイの予言が成就しているその時代に住んでいます。私たちはモルモン書を持っており、イスラエルがすべての国民から集合してくるのを目にしています。私たちは福音と神権の回復も目にしています。

In this scripture, Nephi warns us that there will be many people who will not believe the gospel.  In this world, many people think they are smart.  They think they are rich.  They think they are powerful.  They have pride.

この聖句でニーファイは福音を信じない多くの人々がいることについて警告しています。世の中には自分が賢いと思っている多くの人がいます。彼らは裕福であり権力があることを誇っています。

Because of their pride, they reject the blessings and truths of the gospel.  They don’t believe that there are revelations today.  They do not believe that there are prophets today.  

彼らは傲慢のため、福音の祝福や真実を拒みます。彼らは今日啓示があることを信じませんし、今日預言者がいることも信じません。

But we know that all these things are true.  We know that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored.  We know that the power and authority of the priesthood has been restored.  We know that there are prophets and apostles who lead us and teach us.

しかし私たちはこれらすべてのことが真実だと知っています。私たちはイエス・キリストの福音が回復されたこと、また神権の権能と力が回復されたことを知っています。私たちは預言者や使途がおり私たちを教え導いておられることを知っています。

We know that miracles happen.  We know that the Holy Ghost can guide us.  We know that we can receive all the gifts and blessings that have been promised in the scriptures.

私たちは奇跡が起こることを知っています。聖霊が私たちを導いてくださることや、聖典に約束されているすべての賜物や祝福を享受できることも知っています。

Because we know these things, we have a duty.  What is our duty?

私たちはこれらの知識が与えられているので義務が発生します。私たちの義務とは何でしょう？

Our duty is to keep the commandments.  Our duty is to help others.  Our duty is to share our testimony with others.  Our duty is to be examples of true believers.

私たちには戒めを守る義務があります。他の誰かに手を差し伸べる義務、他の誰かに自分の証を分かち合う義務があります。また私たちには真の信者としての模範となる義務があります。

I know that there is revelation today.  I know that we have prophets today.  I know that the Holy Ghost guides us today.  I know that all these things are true. I know that it is by our faith that we receive these blessings.  I know that it is our duty to be good examples.

私は今日も（神からの）啓示があることを知っています。今日も預言者が与えられていること、また聖霊が今日も私たちを導くことを知っています。私はこれらすべてのことが真実だと知っています。私たちの信仰によってこれらの祝福を受けられることを知っています。私たちにはよい模範となる義務があることを知っています。

Let’s try hard this week to be examples to everyone.  Let’s show our friends and our families that we believe in Jesus Christ.  Let’s do our duty.  I know that we will receive all the promised blessings if we do these things.

今週、誰に対しても模範となれるよう頑張りましょう。家族や友人に私たちがイエス・キリストを信じていることを示しましょう。私たちの義務を果たしましょう。私はこれらのことを行うとき約束された全ての祝福が享受できることを知っています。
