Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind, and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day. Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work. Doctrine & Covenants 4:2-3

This famous scripture is most often used when talking about missionary work. But it really applies to all of us, not just to missionaries.
私たちはフルタイムの宣教師ではないかもしれませんが、それぞれが主の業に仕えるよう最善を尽くす責任を持っています。私たちは各自召しを受けています。私たちにはまだ教会員ではない友人がいます。フェローシップや友情を必要としている人が周りにいます。
We may not be full time missionaries, but we each have a responsibility to do our best to serve in the work of the Lord. Each of us has a calling. Each of us has friends who are not yet members of the Church. Each of us has those around us who need our fellowshipping and our friendship.
私たちはバプテスマを受けたときに、天父とイエス・キリストに仕えることを約束しました。私たちは彼らの戒めを守ることを約束しました。私たちは良い選択をすることを約束しました。
When we were baptized, we each made a promise to serve Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. We promised to keep their commandments. We promised to make good choices.

In verse 3 of this scripture, it says “if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work”. It does not say that only full time missionaries are called to the work. It does not say that only the Bishop or the Elders Quorum President or the Primary President or the Young Women’s President are called to the work. It says that all of us are called to the work.
私たちは皆その業に召されているので、最善を尽くして仕える必要があります。2節では、「終わりの日に神の前に罪のない状態で立てる」ために教会で重要な地位に就く必要があるとも書かれていません。代わりに、「心と、勢力と、思いと、力を尽くして神に仕えなさい」と書かれています。
Since we have all been called to the work, we need to do our best to serve. It is interesting that in verse 2 of this scripture, it does not say that we have to have an important position in the Church to “stand blameless before God at the last day”. Instead, it says that we need to serve God with all our “heart, might, mind, and strength”.
私たちが神に仕えるために何をするかは重要ではありません。重要なのは、与えられた割り当てや機会の中で最善を尽くして神に仕えることです。主は私たち一人ひとりをご存知です。主は私たちの才能をご存知です。主は私たちの試練もご存知です。主は私たちができる限りのことをするよう期待しておられます。最善を尽くして仕えるなら、主は私たちを導き、祝福してくださり、私たちが考えている以上のことを成し遂げることができるでしょう。
It does not matter at all what we do to serve God. The only thing that is important is that we do our best to serve him in whatever assignment or opportunity we have. The Lord knows each one of us. He knows what our talents are. He knows what our challenges are. He expects us to do all that we can do. If we do our best to serve, the Lord will guide us and bless us and we will be able to accomplish much more than we thought we could.
「心と、勢力と、思いと、力を尽くして」仕えるということは、積極的であることを意味します。他の人に仕える機会を探すことを意味します。頼まれるのを待つのではなく、必要を見つけたら行動を起こすことを意味します。それは「善良で忠実な僕」になることを意味します。
To serve with all our “heart, might, mind, and strength” means to be active. It means we should look for opportunities to serve others. It means we should not wait to be asked, but that we should take action whenever we see a need. It means we should be “good and faithful servants”.
新しい週が始まります。「神に仕えたいと望んでいる」ことを覚えて過ごしましょう。私たちは皆「主の業に召されている」のです。私たちは「心と、勢力と、思いと、力を尽くして」神に仕えることができます。最善を尽くすなら、「終わりの日に神の前に罪のない状態で立てる」ことでしょう。
As we go through this next week, let’s remember that we all “have desires to serve God”. We have all been “called to the work”. We can serve God with all our “heart, might, mind, and strength”. If we do our best, we will be able to “stand blameless before God at the last day”.
私たちがどんな形であれ、神に仕える努力をし、周りの人々を助けるために最善を尽くすことができますように。
