For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  2 Nephi 19:6

モルモン書の学習を終えるにあたり、この一年間にモルモン書から学んだことを振り返ってみましょう。 

As we conclude our study of The Book of Mormon, let’s take a step back and look back over what we have studied and learned from The Book of Mormon during this past year.  

モルモン書の目的は、イエスがキリストであり、世の救い主であるという第二の証であることです。それがモルモン書の目的であり、メッセージなのです。

At the very beginning of our study, we learned that the purpose of The Book of Mormon is to stand as a second witness that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior of the world. That is the purpose and the message of The Book of Mormon.  

最初のページから最後のページまで、イエス・キリストについて証する預言者の言葉が記されています。ニーファイは、家族とともにエルサレムを去る前からイエス・キリストについて証しています。それから約1,000 年後、預言者モロナイはイエス・キリストについての証で記録を締めくくっています。この二人の偉大な預言者の間には、リーハイ、ヤコブ、ベニヤミン王、モーサヤ、アルマ、ヒラマン、モルモン、その他多くの預言者の証があります。

From the very first pages to the very last, we read the words of prophets testifying of Jesus Christ.  Nephi testifies of Jesus Christ even before he and his family leave Jerusalem.  Some 1,000 years later, the prophet Moroni closes out the record with his testimony of Jesus Christ.  In between those two great prophets, we hear testimonies from Lehi, Jacob, king Benjamin, Mosiah, Alma, Helaman, Mormon, and many others.  

クリスマスの季節に、これらの預言者の証を思い起こすのはふさわしいことです。救い主がお生まれになる前であろうと、後であろうと、それらの預言者は皆、同じ​​証を持っていました。旧約聖書にはアダムから何世紀にもわたって同じ証が記録されています。新約聖書の著者が私たちに残した証も同じです。

It is appropriate, in the Christmas season, to remember the testimonies of these prophets.  Whether they lived before the Savior was born or after, they all had the same testimony.  It is the same testimony that is recorded in the Old Testament, from Adam down through the centuries.  It is the same testimony that the New Testament writers left for us.

クリスマスの時期には、マタイとルカに記録されている救い主の誕生の記録を読むのが伝統となっています。これらの記録は、救い主の地上での御業に心を向けるのに役立ちます。これらの記録とともに、モルモン書は救い主の誕生に関するさらなる洞察と知識を与えてくれます。

At Christmas time it is traditional to read the accounts of the birth of the Savior as recorded in Matthew and in Luke.  These accounts help to focus our minds on the earthly ministry of the Savior.  Along with these records, The Book of Mormon provides additional insight and knowledge about the birth of the Savior.

モルモン書には、救い主がお生まれになったときに起こる出来事について、ニーファイ人に預言したレーマン人サムエルのメッセージが書かれています。暗闇のない昼と夜と昼が来て、天には新しい星が現れるはずでした。救い主がお生まれになった証として、これらの他に多くのしるしが与えられました。

In The Book of Mormon, we read about the message of Samuel, a Lamanite, who prophesied to the Nephites about the events that would take place when the Savior was born.  There was to be a day and a night and a day with no darkness.  There was to be a new star in the heavens.  These and many other signs were given as a testimony that the Savior had been born.

今年のクリスマスは、救い主イエス・キリストへの信仰を強める機会となるような過ごし方をしましょう。今年モルモン書で学んだこと、イエス・キリストについて、その福音について、そしてその偉大な贖罪について教えられたことを思い起こしてみましょう。

As we celebrate Christmas this year, let’s use it as an opportunity to strengthen our faith in our Savior Jesus Christ.  Let’s remember the things that we have studied in The Book of Mormon this year, things that have taught us about Jesus Christ, about his gospel, and about his great Atonement.

飼い葉桶の中の幼子を思い出すとき、エルサレムで使徒たちに現れた勝利の復活した主も思い出しましょう。ニーファイ人の民に現れた勝利の復活した主も思い出しましょう。

While we remember the child in the manger, let’s also remember the triumphant resurrected Lord that appeared to his apostles in Jerusalem.  Let’s remember the triumphant and resurrected Lord that appeared to the Nephite people.  

旧約聖書、新約聖書、そしてモルモン書にあるすべての預言者の証を思い出しましょう。さらに重要なことは、イエス・キリストについて大胆に証する現代の預言者と使徒の証を忘れないことです。

Let’s remember the testimonies of all the prophets, in the Old Testament, in the New Testament, and in The Book of Mormon.  Even more importantly, let’s remember the testimonies of prophets and apostles in our day, who testify boldly of Jesus Christ.

イエス・キリストは世の救い主であり、贖い主です。御父の独り子、全能の神、永遠の父、平和の君です。

Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world.  He is the Only Begotten of the Father.  He is The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
