あなたは何の証拠があって神は実在せず、またキリストは来られないと言うのか。あなたの言葉の他には何一つ証拠がないと、わたしはあなたに告げる。しかし見よ、わたしはすべての事物を持って、これらのことが真実であると証する。アルマ３０:４０-４１
And now what evidence have ye that there is no God, or that Christ cometh not: I say unto you that ye have none, save it be your word only. But, behold, I have all things as a testimony that these things are true. Alma 30:40
アルマ30章には、コリホルという名の邪悪な男について書かれています。コリホルは人々に、救い主は来ない、キリストは来ない、と語り始めました。未来について知る人は誰もいない、と彼は主張しました。
In chapter 30 of Alma, we read about a wicked man named Korihor. Korihor began telling the people that there would not be a Savior, that Christ would not come. He claimed that no man can know about the future.
コリホルは人々を騙してサタンの嘘を信じ込ませようと懸命に働きました。彼の教えはある人々の間で非常に人気がありました。コリホルの考えの多くが、サタンが色んな時代や場所で使っている考えと同じであるのは興味深いことです。
Korihor was very diligent and worked hard to trick the people into believing Satan’s lies. His teaching was very popular among some of the people. It is interesting that many of Korihor’s ideas are the same ideas that Satan uses in many different times and places.
今日でも、こうした嘘は多く広まっています。コリホルは、この世で何をしようが関係ない、死んだらそれで終わりだから、と言いました。死後には何もない。この世で成功するのは、自分の努力や他人を打ち負かす能力だけに基づいていると彼は言いました。嘘をついたり、騙しても構わないと言いました。司祭は働く必要はなく、人々からお金を与えられるべきだと考えていました。
Even today, many of these same lies are popular. Korihor said that it doesn’t matter what you do in this life, because when you die, that is the end. There is nothing after death. He said that everyone succeeds in this life based only on his own hard work or his ability to defeat others. He said that it is okay to lie or to cheat. He thought that priests should not have to work but should be given money by the people.
彼はアンモンの民にこれらの嘘を教えようとしましたが、彼らはその策略をすべて拒みました。彼らは彼を捕らえ、裁きを受けるためにアルマのもとに送りました。アルマが彼を問いただすと、コリホルはまた、人々に伝えていたのと同じ嘘を繰り返しました。彼は、誰も将来のことを知ることはできないと言いました。
He tried to teach these lies to the people of Ammon, but they rejected all of his tricks. They arrested him and sent him to Alma to be judged. When Alma questioned him, Korihor again repeated the same lies that he had been telling the people. He said that no man can know of things to come.
この点では彼は正しく、将来起こることを知る人はいません。しかし天の御父は将来起こることをすべて御存じです。聖霊は主の預言者に将来起こることを明らかにすることができ、天の御父からの啓示によって、預言者は私たちを導き、助け、正しい原則を教えることができるのです。
In this he was correct. No man can know of things to come. But Heavenly Father does know of all things to come. The Holy Ghost can reveal to the Lord’s prophets about things to come. Because of revelation from Heavenly Father, the prophets can guide us, help us, and teach us correct principles.
そこでアルマはコリホルに非常に重要な質問をします。「神がいないという証拠はあるのか？」と。コリホルはその質問に答えることができません。アルマはコリホルに「あなたには証拠はない。あなたが持っているのはあなたの意見だけだ」と言って真実を指摘します。
Alma then asks Korihor a very important question. He asks, “What evidence do you have that there is no God?” Korihor is unable to answer that question. Alma points out the truth when he says to Korihor, “you don’t have any evidence. All you have is your opinion”.
これは大切な質問です。今日、世の中には天の御父とイエス・キリストに対する私たちの信仰に異議を唱えようとする人が大勢います。彼らは、どちらも存在しないと主張し、私たちの真理の証をあざけります。
This is an important question. There are many in the world today that want to challenge our belief in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. They claim that neither of them exist. They mock our testimony of the truth.
神を信じない人々から挑戦を受けたときは、アルマがコリホルに尋ねたのと同じ質問をするのがよいでしょう。「あなたにはどんな証拠があるのか。あなた自身の意見以外に何もない。」
When challenged by people who do not believe in God, it is appropriate to ask the same question that Alma asked Korihor, “What evidence to you have? Nothing other than your own opinion”.
私たちの信仰は、私たちは皆、天の御父の霊の子供であり、イエス・キリストは私たちの救い主であるという事実、すなわち真理の証に基づいています。私たちが持つ証拠は、私たちの霊に真理を語る聖霊から来ています。私たちが持つ証拠は、祈りの答えから来ています。私たちが持つ証拠は、古代と現代の預言者の言葉から来ています。私たちが持つ証拠は、聖文から来ています。
Our faith is based on our testimony of the truth, of the reality that we are all spirit children of Heavenly Father, that Jesus Christ is our Savior. The evidence that we have comes from the Holy Ghost, who speaks truth to our souls. The evidence that we have comes from answers to prayers. The evidence we have comes from the words of prophets, ancient and modern. The evidence we have comes from the scriptures.
新しい週が始まります。サタンが人々を騙すために使う嘘について考えてみましょう。神はいないと主張する人たちは、自分の意見以外には、その証拠を何も持っていないことを覚えていましょう。私たちには愛に満ちた天の御父がいて、イエス・キリストが私たちの罪を償い、聖霊が私たちに真理を教えてくださるという、多くの証拠があることを忘れないでください。サタンの「火の矢」や嘘のどうかにかかわらず、信仰に固く立ちましょう。
As we go through this next week, let’s remember the lies that Satan uses to trick people. Let’s remember that those who claim there is not God do not have any evidence of that, other than their own opinion. Let’s remember the many evidences we have the we do have a loving Heavenly Father, that Jesus Christ atoned for our sins, that the Holy Ghost does teach us truth. Let’s stand firm in the faith, in spite of the “fiery darts” and lies of Satan.
