創世の前に天において定められた不変の律法があり、すべての祝福はこれに基づいている。すなわち、神から祝福を受ける時は、それが基づく律法に従うことによるのである。教義と聖約 １３０：２０－２１
There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated – And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated. Doctrine & Covenants 130:20-21
This is a scripture that is familiar to all of us. It is often used to teach people how to obtain blessings.
これは誰もがよく知る聖句です。どのように祝福が得られるのか教えるときよく使われます。
Sometimes, though, some people have misunderstood this scripture and have tried to apply it in reverse.
しかし時折、人はこの聖句を誤解し逆の意味に使おうとしています。
In other words, they want to give the blessing in the hopes that the result will be obedience. That does not work.
言い換えると彼らは祝福をまず期待し、その結果従順になるというものです。でもその様にはなりません。
For example, a well-meaning Bishop may give a temple recommend to a member of his ward who is struggling to live the gospel. The Bishop hopes that if that member goes to the temple and receives those sacred blessings, they will feel the Spirit and suddenly want to obey all the commandments.
例えば、善意からでしょうがビショップが神殿推薦状を福音に従った生活に悩んでいるワードの会員にあたえることがあります。ビショップはその会員が神殿に行けば神聖な祝福を受け、そして彼らが御霊を感じそこからすべての戒めに従いたいと望むだろうと期待します。
This scripture teaches us that such a plan will not work.
この聖句はそうした計画は間違っていることを教えています。
There is only one way to obtain blessings from the Lord.
主から祝福を受ける方法はただ一つです。
If we want to receive blessings, we must do our part first. There is never a question about whether or not the Lord will keep his part of the promise. If we live any principle of the gospel and obey it completely, we will always receive the promised blessings.
もし祝福を受けたければまず自分のすべきことを行わねばなりません。主が約束を守ってくださるかどうかという疑問はありえません。福音の原則に従って暮らし、完全に従うならば私たちは間違いなく主が約束された祝福を受けるのです。
So what does this mean for us?
ではあなたにとってどういう意味でしょう？
It means, “Do YOU want blessings?”
それは「あなたは祝福が欲しいですか」ということです。
If you want to receive the blessings that come from obeying the Law of the Fast, live that law. Fast and pray as you have been taught. The blessings of living that law will come.
断食の律法に従うことから祝福が欲しければ、その律法に従って生きてください。教えられたように断食し祈ってください。この律法に従って生きることから祝福はやってくるのです。
If you want to receive the blessings that come from living the Law of Tithing, live that law.
Pay a full and honest tithe. The blessings of living that law will come.
もし什分の一の律法に従うことから来る祝福を受けたければその律法に従って生きてください。什分の一を忠実に払いましょう。この律法に従って生きることから祝福はやってくるのです。
If you want to receive the blessings that come from living the Law of Sacrifice, live that law.
Serve faithfully in your callings, minister to those around you, give of your time and talents. The blessings of living that law will come.
犠牲の律法に生きることから来る祝福を受けたければその律法に従って生きてください。あなたの時間や才能を使い、受けた召しを忠実に果たし周りの人々にミニスタリングをしてください。この律法に従って生きることから祝福はやってくるのです。
This is such a simple principle that even the young Primary children can understand it. There is nothing complex or hard to understand. There are only two things to remember.

Receive the blessings
それは初等協会の子供でも理解できる簡単な原則です。複雑で理解しにくいことではありません。ただ二つの事だけ覚えていればよいのです。
律法に従って生きる
祝福を受ける
If anyone expects to receive the blessings before they show their faithfulness by living the law first, they will wait a long time for those blessings.
律法に従って生きることによって忠実さを示す前に祝福を受けたいと期待している者は、その祝福を受けるまでにどれ程の時間がかかることでしょう。
On the other hand, those who try with real intent to live the law will always receive those promised blessings.
一方、しっかりした決意を持ってその律法に従って生きようとする者は常に約束された祝福を受けます。
As we go through this next week, think about what blessings you would like to have in your life. What blessings do you need? Let’s be faithful in living the law upon which that blessing is predicated. The Lord will, in his own due time, always send the blessings promised to the faithful.
あなたの人生でどんな祝福を望んでいるのか考えながら今週を過ごしましょう。どんな祝福が必要ですか？その祝福に基づく律法に従って生きるようにしましょう。主は間違いなく忠実なものに約束された祝福を主の時に与えられます。
