And it came to pass that Noah continued his preaching unto the people, saying: Hearken, and give heed to my words; Believe and repent of your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, even as our fathers, and ye shall receive the Holy Ghost, that ye may have all things made manifest; and if ye do not this, the floods will come in upon you; nevertheless they hearkened not.  

Moses 8:23-24

The book of Moses adds much to our knowledge of the events of the early history of this world.  It is evident, after comparing the book of Moses to Genesis, that many important things have been lost from the Bible record.  This is just as the prophet Nephi told us was going to happen.

モーセ書は、この世の初期の歴史について私たちに多くの知識を授けてくれます。モーセ書を創世記と比較してみると、聖書の記録から多くの重要な内容が失われていることは明らかです。これは、預言者ニーファイが私たちに起こるだろうと述べたとおりです。

Perhaps the most important doctrine that has been lost is the doctrine that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been taught since the days of Adam.  For various reasons, there is very little in our Old Testament that teaches about Jesus Christ.  

おそらく失われた最も重要な教義は、アダムの時代からイエス・キリストの福音が教えられていたということです。さまざまな理由から、旧約聖書はイエス・キリストについて殆ど教えていません。

It is clear from modern revelation and from the translation of ancient records by the Prophet Joseph Smith that all the prophets in the Old Testament taught about Jesus Christ.  It is strange that almost every reference to the Savior in the Old Testament has been lost.

旧約聖書のすべての預言者がイエス・キリストについて教えたということは、現代の啓示と預言者ジョセフ・スミスによる古代の記録の翻訳から明らかです。旧約聖書で救い主への言及がほとんどすべて失われているのは不思議なことです。

In this scripture, we are given a great example of an ancient prophet teaching about Jesus Christ. Noah testified to the people of his day that they must believe in Jesus Christ, must repent of their sins, and must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.  

この聖句には、イエス・キリストについて教えている古代の預言者の偉大な例が載っています。ノアは当時の人々に、イエス・キリストを信じ、罪を悔い改め、イエス・キリストの名によってバプテスマを受けなければならないと証しました。

If they did those things, they would receive the Holy Ghost.  The Holy Ghost would make all things manifest unto them.  

もし彼らがそうしたならば、聖霊を受けたことでしょう。聖霊はすべてのものを彼らに明らかにしたことでしょう。

Noah teaches that this was not a new doctrine in his time.  He tells the people that they need to do this “even as our fathers” did.  From this we learn that the gospel principles of faith, repentance, baptism, and the gift of the Holy Ghost were not new doctrines, but have been on the earth since the days of Adam.

We are taught in the book of Moses that Adam and Eve, our first parents, taught the gospel of Jesus Christ to their children and their posterity.  Sadly, many of those children and grandchildren and great grandchildren rejected the teachings of Adam and Eve.  We learn that those individuals loved Satan more than they loved God.

私たちの最初の両親であるアダムとイブが、子供たちとその子孫にイエス・キリストの福音を教えたとモーセ書の中で教えられています。悲しいことに、それらの子供や孫、ひ孫の多くは、アダムとイブの教えを拒みました。彼らが神を愛することよりもサタンを愛していたことを私たちは知っています。

The book of Moses and Genesis both teach us that there were faithful and righteous people among the descendants of Adam and Eve.  The great patriarchs of the Old Testament, from Adam to Enoch, from Enoch to Noah, and from Noah to Abraham, were prophets of God.  They taught the people of their own time the same gospel that we teach in this final dispensation.

モーセ書と創世記はどちらも、アダムとイブの子孫の中に忠実で義にかなった人々がいたことを教えています。アダムからエノクまで、エノクからノアまで、そしてノアからアブラハムまで、旧約聖書の偉大な族長たちは神の預言者でした。彼らは私たちがこの最後の神権時代に教えたのと同じ福音を彼らの時代の人々にも教えました。

The gospel of Jesus Christ is not something new.  It has been on the earth from the very beginning.  It is only in times of great wickedness that the gospel is withdrawn from the earth.  Each new dispensation brings back the same gospel and the same doctrines.  The gospel does not change.  It is eternal.

イエス・キリストの福音は新しいものではありません。それは最初から地上に存在していました。福音が地上から取り去られるのは、非常に邪悪な時だけです。それぞれの新しい神権時代に同じ福音と教義が回復されてきました。福音は変わりません。それは永遠です。

Now in this, the greatest of all dispensations, the gospel is here in its fulness.  Revelation flows to prophets and apostles.  Priesthood power and authority has been restored to the earth.  Under the authority of the Priesthood, the ordinances of salvation are once again available to all who will keep the commandments.  

今、この最も偉大な神権時代において、福音はここに完全な状態であります。啓示は預言者と使徒に注がれます。神権の力と権能が地上に回復されました。神権の権能の下で、戒めを守るすべての人が救いの儀式を再び享受できるようになります。

As we go through this next week, let’s remember the importance of teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to our families, to our neighbors, and most importantly to ourselves.  Let’s remember that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been on the earth since the days of Adam and Eve.  Let’s remember that the only way to find true happiness is to keep the commandments of Jesus Christ.  Let’s do our best to become better examples of a follower of our Savior Jesus Christ.
