見よ、レーマン人同士の戦争が今非常に激しい。また、彼らは憎しみのために、キリストを否定しないニーファイ人をすべて殺している。わたしモロナイはキリストを否定しないので、命の安全を得られる場所を求めてさまよっている。モロナイ１:２−３

For behold, their wars are exceedingly fierce among themselves; and because of their hatred they put to death every Nephite that will not deny the Christ.  And I, Moroni, will not deny the Christ; wherefore, I wander whithersoever I can for the safety of mine own life.  Moroni 1:2-3

ニーファイ人の記録の悲しい結末が見えてきた頃、預言者モロナイは戦争と邪悪な世界に独り取り残されていました。クモラでの壮大で恐ろしい最後の戦いから約15年後、モロナイは自分が孤独であると書き残しています。彼は、大戦争から逃れたニーファイ人と父親がレーマン人に追われ、全員殺されたと述べています。

As we now come to the sad end of the Nephite record, we find the prophet Moroni alone in a world of wars and wickedness.  Some 15 years after the great and terrible final battle at Cumorah, Moroni reports that he is all alone.  He tells us that his father and those Nephites who escaped from the great battle have been hunted by the Lamanites and have all been killed.

大きな戦いの後、モロナイはリムハイ王の民が見つけた 24 枚の版からヤレド人の記録を要約しました。彼は、その作業を終えた後、これ以上は書けないと述べています。

During the time after the great battle, Moroni abridged the record of the Jaredites from the 24 plates that were found by the people of king Limhi.  He says that, having completed that assignment, he did not expect to be able to write any more.

彼がこれ以上書けないと思ったのは、彼が置かれた困難な状況のためでした。レーマン人がニーファイ人を皆殺しにした後、彼らは自分たちの間で多くの深刻な戦争を起こし始めました。レーマン人は、まだ生きているかもしれないニーファイ人を探していました。ニーファイ人が見つかると、キリストを否定するか、殺されるかの選択を迫られました。

The reason that he did not expect to write any more was because of the difficult circumstances that he found himself in.  After the Lamanites had killed all the Nephites, they began to have many serious wars among themselves.  They were also searching for any Nephites that might still be alive.  If they found a Nephite, he was given the choice of either denying the Christ or being killed.  

神の預言者モロナイは、キリストを否定しないと固く宣言していました。彼はレーマン人から隠れなければならず、もし見つかれば、イエス・キリストの証のゆえに殺されてしまいます。彼には助けてくれる人が誰もおらず、家族も友人もいません。他の者は皆殺しにされてしまったのです。

Moroni, a prophet of God, firmly states that he will not deny the Christ.  He has to hide from the Lamanites.  If he is found, he will be killed because of his testimony of Jesus Christ.  He has no one to help him, no family or friends.  Everyone else had been killed.  

あなたは自分がそのような状況にいることを想像できますか。もしあなたがこの世でたった一人になっても、聖約の道をしっかりと歩み続けれるでしょうか。助けてくれる人や導いてくれる人がいなくても、聖約を守ることができるでしょうか。殺されるかもしれないとしても、イエス・キリストを証しすることができるでしょうか。

Can you imagine yourself is such a situation?  If you were all alone in the world, would you still stay firmly on the covenant path?  With no one to help you or guide you, would you still be able to keep your covenants?  Would you still testify of Jesus Christ if it meant you might be killed?

私たちはイエス・キリストの証を分かち合うことをためらうことがあります。他の人が私たちのことをどう思うか心配します。恥ずかしい思いをしたり笑われたりすることを恐れます。

Today, we are sometimes hesitant to share our testimonies of Jesus Christ.  We worry about what other people will think of us.  We fear that we might be embarrassed or laughed at.  

しかし、殺されるかもしれないと思うでしょうか。いいえ、もちろんそんなことはありません。嘲笑されたり、笑われたりすることはあっても、イエス・キリストについて証したからといって、だれも私たちを殺すことはありません。では、なぜ私たちは恐れるのでしょうか。

But do we think we might be killed?  No, of course not.  We might be ridiculed or laughed at, but no one is going to kill us for testifying of Jesus Christ.  So why are we afraid?

モロナイは私たちの信仰のなさをどう思うでしょうか。イエス・キリストの証を分かち合うことをためらう私たちをどう思うでしょうか。

What would Moroni think of our lack of faith?  What would he think of us for being hesitant to share our testimony of Jesus Christ?

イエス・キリストは世の救い主であり、贖い主です。イエス・キリストの偉大な贖いの犠牲を通して、私たちは希望を持つことができます。イエス・キリストのおかげで、私たちは悔い改めることができます。イエス・キリストのおかげで、私たちは再び地上で救いの儀式を受けることができます。良いものはすべて、救い主イエス・キリストからもたらされます。

Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world.  It is through his great Atoning Sacrifice that we have hope.  It is because of Jesus Christ that we can repent.  It is through Jesus Christ that we have the ordinances of salvation on the earth again.  Everything that is good comes from our Savior, Jesus Christ.

新しい週が始まります。イエス・キリストの証を周りの人々と分かち合う機会を探してみましょう。イエス・キリストの福音を通してもたらされる大きな喜びと幸せを、喜んで分かち合いましょう。命がけでイエス・キリストを証した預言者モロナイの模範を忘れないでください。私たちのすべての祝福がどこから来ているのかを思い出しましょう。救い主イエス・キリストのより良い従者になりましょう。

As we go through this week, let’s look for opportunities to share our testimony of Jesus Christ with those around us.  Let’s be willing to share the great joy and happiness that comes to us through the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Let’s remember the example of the prophet Moroni, who was willing to testify of Jesus Christ even at the risk of his life.  Let’s remember where all of our blessings come from.  Let’s be better followers of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
